I have 2 much blue and green stuff to even consider this board.

blue and green are compliments to orange! It's a great contrast, they do it in movies all the time

Can I ask you how would one use this with Single GPU on the PLX bypass mode + One PCIE sound card? Or would that mean using them in the orange lanes with added latency?

Thanks

Thread Starter
So you can use the PLX bypass and then the black 1x slots without issue.

If you have more than 1 card that requires more than 1x slot, then just use the orange slots, the first and 3rd.

I have a 7970 matrix in the black slot, it has a 3 slot cooler design and yes it covers the mini PCI-E.
If you choose to use the orange slot the performance "loss" will be tiny. You wont really notice it. When you have GEN 3.0 enabled should be allgood.

Dear Vivi_Za,

Hey first of all thanks for letting me know about the 3 slot cooler covering the Mini PCI-E port but then I immediately get an other question in my head.

1. What config are you using. Are you using the black PCIE16x slot? or are you using the first Orange PCIE16x slot.
2. Is the first PCIE1x slot stil blocked if you use the first Orange PCIE16x slot or not?

3. If you use any other card, like a PCIE1x soundcard and / or the included PCIE1x wifi / bluetooth card will that have any influence on the performance
of your Graphics card.
4. And if so will there be a difference in the performance impact if you are using the graphics card in either the First Orange PCIE16x slot or the Black PCIE16x slot??

I hope you can answer these questions, and if not then I hope our good old topic starter mr SIN kan answer these questions.

GReetings from DrDeathhand

1. I am using the black slot, i dont need the mini PCI-E
2. It's available but tight. But there are 2 so if you only need one PCI-E1x you can have the card in black slot and use the extra PCI-E1x slot. But if you need both PCI-E1X then put the card in the first orange slot.
3. Using add in cards in the PCI-E1X slots won't effect graphics performance. The only thing they will change graphics performance is using black slots vs orange slots. Im gonna run a quick Benchmark and tell you the difference.
4. Lets seee im gonna run 3dmark11 quick.

here we go:

Using the Bypass black slot. NON-PLX
eRLbc.png

Using the Orange PLX slot.
8HySq.png

very interesting result.. only a 100 point difference in a very GPU intense benchmark. It will be interesting to see what it does in 3dmark 06 or something, because look at the Physix score, it's alot higher in the PLX slot :O. Very interesting. Im gonna investigate this further

Interesting indeed. Now all we need is multi GPU comparison. Though I don't think that would be possible. My Setup is acting wonky. Geez this board looks good:)

Chewy- maybe

In my humble opinion it would be so "interesting and educational" if Sin would do a GIGA UP7 vs ASR OC Form vs MSI MPWR and explain how they are all different and where the difference in price comes from and how it results in difference in real world. I'd read it twice just to understand things better.

Thanks for the preview, hope to read the added OC and other tests soon.
