[PC Gamer] DICE threatens permanent bans for users of color-editing Battlefield 3 mod - Page 12

I thought their defense was that you gain a competitive edge when using these brighter colors on certain maps and areas in those maps versus players who do not use this mod. Since the mod is not a game standard and does not make fair play amongst all, it is fine to ban it.

The mod tools actually allow you to alter things like bullet drop, weapon damage etc and completely remove the sun glare, not just alter the coloring. I think a lot of people just think of the FXAA injector-type effect and don't realize what the mod tool in question can actually do.

The color change mod mainly means, just like in CS source, you use transluscence imstead of your ""enhanced color" so this allows cheating. So i understand why theyre doing this

meh anyway bf3 was a downgrade from bf2 and bf2142 cant really expect much.

I'm calling BS on this. The guy who claims to have been banned for using this did not get banned. I'm pretty sure EA/DICE have no means of knowing if you have used modified color. This is most likely just a scare tactic to get people not to use it. I use it (and other things) and haven't been banned yet. If I do get banned, I'm not going to cry about it. This game has flaws, I work around the flaws to actually enjoy this broken game.

Well said. The game looks incredible with the un-washed colors!

Indeed It does look nice but It also takes away BF3's sort of unique color scheme and kind of ruins the atmosphere for me, however I haven't played the full game so I wouldn't know.
