I hope Google also requires Nexus phones to have an unlocked bootloader.

This is why I am sticking with Nexus phone's now.

I finally got jelly bean on my Galaxy Nexus the other day and am very impressed so far. It seems much smoother than ICS was...

Just shows you.... If Moto would update the Atrix to at least ICS, we would have a phone good for a while longer... GRRRRR!!

I know the article said that the phones had to be supported through Android 5.0, which is supposed to be released next fall, but what about after that? I would hope Google would mandate a 2 year support on these phones minimum.

I have an Atrix as well and was disappointed to hear there would be no ICS even. Not even 1 year of having the latest Android OS. It's for that reason that with my next smartphone I was strongly considering an Apple device. But wider Nexus certification, spread across multiple carriers, has the potential to keep me with Android.

I did consider getting a sim-free one or a PAYG on my network and throwing away the SIM, but they're big money, even 2nd hand. Stupid networks, still peddling old crap from HTC & the like, why discontinue the phone I actually wanted?

Phones 4 U are still offering it.

Anyway I myself am waiting for a nexus phone to upgrade my Sensation XE from. It's not a bad phone but I've learned my lesson that getting a non nexus phone means you'll be waiting for ages for any updates, only just got ICS for it and theres no mention of Jellybean for it yet.

As for LG, meh im not a fan of their phones. If this rumor of multiple devices is true ill wait to see what Samsung or HTC have got to offer in terms of a Nexus phone. I would like a larger screen than I currently have (4.3) and 64GB would be great, hopefully a microsd slot as well.

and this

Digitimes says Nexus branded phones from Samsung, LG, Sony, and HTC are likely
