You don't need to do that. There is a link you can click on their sight that gives you a list of codes for an RMA. I put in the code the drive does not even show up and then just RMA the thing. Works fine. Did that with about 5 drives so far no issues. I have RMA'd around 30 with seagate - no issues. 

You have had to RMA 30 drives with Seagate and you are still buying them?

I have been using Seagate for the past 5 years and I work at a computer store. I have had to RMA 3 of my own drives and the rest are through work from customer's machines. I have done an equal amount with WD, hitachi, samsung, etc.

Seagate for me has been the most reliable older drives tho i have 2 320s and a 750 still working great that are 5+ years old iv rmad a few wd and a hitachi never any seagates tho.

We get about 200 customers a week, so that is almost 800 people a month. Ever that time, we do about equal for WD, hitachi, samsung (fewer than the rest) and seagate.
