I have just bought a 4gb stick to go with the current 4gb stick i already have installed. Put it in today but it's not showing up.

The current one which is working and came with the pc:

4GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600U-9-10-B0

The one i have just bought:

4GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600R-9-10-B0

Not identicle but i would have thought it would be compatible. The motherboard supports up to 8GB in the 2 slots.

This is what i get in system info:

installed physical memory: 4.00gb
total physical memory: 3.98gb
available physical memory: 2.06gb
total virtual memory: 7.96gb
available virtul memory: 5.64gb

Motherboard info:

Supported Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 8GB
Currently Installed Memory: 4GB
Total Memory Slots: 2
Available Memory Slots: 1

I have just downloaded memtest86, would it be best if i ran that?

Thanks for any help.

Does your BIOS see the extra memory?

Take out your original strip, put in your new strip and see if it see's it then. If it doesn't it's a dodgy strip of memory. If it does it could be a dodgy port.

Well then you need to RMA the ram.
If it's not showing up at all, it's obviously missing something!

Did you take your old one out and then try the new one on it's own?

If that's still not working then i'm afraid it'll be an RMA

l pass because it can only see one strip of memory, replace your good strip with your dodgy one and see it that works.

Dude,

I've just seen what it is, You have 4 slots to put memory in right, Don't put the strips together, they should be set up like this

slot 1 - slot 3

Slot 2 - Slot 4

You have to put them in their pairs.

Oh ok, if you only have two slots and it's just beeping at you it's time to RMA or get a proper kit.

Yes, The memory you just purchased must be faulty. If you have Tried to run the PC with Each Stick By itself and only 1 Stick lets you boot, then it is a Dud.

RMA

GL on the next one, pretty rare for that to happen though

Atleast we kno wnow that it isnt the DIMM Slot itself, since 4GB Registered in both slots
