Great test that is pretty interesting.
Could you try one with larger core variation, like my setup? I don't have 4.8 clock so my results would be very different.

Interesting, 1 and 2 threads really are faster, but performance suffers with more threads.
even still it is very possible to get 5 ghz on 1 core and if you isolate a program to use a specific core you can benefit from that speed thumb.gif

I'll try to get my own results to post up.

Yes I found that very interesting that when you got up to the 4-8 threads that the performance suffered (sometimes, but not always). When it did suffer it wasn't a dramatic amount atleast.

Some games don't utilize 4 cores very well. Soon I'll do a few tests on Planetside 2 Beta (the game I'm playing now) and compare game performance with 2 through 4 cores and with hyperthreading enabled/disabled. I noticed that this game doesn't utilize all 4 cores very well. It is in Beta, so it's possible that they just aren't fully optimized for 4+ core machines yet....
