Windows 8 and Creative Xfi Titanium issue

Hey everyone. So i finally setup Win8 for the first time and loving it but I am having a small issue with my soundcard

I have a Creative X-Fi Titanium (not the HD model) and installed all the drivers.

The problem I have is this

I connected my headset via the case's front headphone jack. When I start creative console launcher and test my headphone i can get audio from my headphone.

HOWEVER

while gaming or while listening the music although the headphone jack is connected, the sound only comes from the speakers but not the headset/

Any ideas?

Unless you have the Creative front bay attachment, you are going to want to plug your headphones directly into the soundcard. You will only get HD audio from the case's front panel.

Yes but the exact same setup used to work for me with Windows 7 thats what i dont understand

Also i just found out something.

WHen I right clickthe sound icon on the lower right and go to playback devices I need to make

Speakers
Creative SB X-Fi

the default device to get sound from the headsets.

WHen i unplug the headset no sound comes from the speakers

THAN if i make

Speakers
2- High Definitioun Audio Device

the default device than I can only get sound from the speakers, but when I plug in the headset no sound comes. Exactly opposite of the above.

So if i want to use my headset than Speakers Creative SB X-FI is the default
if i want to use my speakers than Speakers 2- High Definitoun Audio devices must be selected default.

With win 7 this process was automatic. When i plugged the headset the sound would start to come from the headset.

In the creative console launcher look for the automatically detect headphones setting. Also, what headphone/set are you using?

Yeah the automatically detect headphone setting is checked. I wonder if the feature is broken under Win8

I am using an AKG GHS headset

Sounds strange. Have you tried the tweakforce drivers?

2- High Definitioun Audio Device

That tells me that you have a Geforce video card and you have not installed its drivers or that is your onboard and it is not disabled in the bios, or you do not have official drivers installed for your sound card, only the default ones built into Windows 8. Or any of these the case?

So i disabled onboard audio via the UEFI

Reinstalled Windows 8 to the latest 9200 version.

Now I have my creative soundcard drivers installed for Windows 8 and i have NO audio what so ever.

When I right click the sound ICON on the desktop all i see now is

Speakers
X-Fi titanium option which is enabled.

However I CAN NOT get any audio from it.

But when i connect my headset to the cases front panel, i can get audio from the headset, but when i unplug the headset i cant get audio from the speakers.

Speakers are on and working elsewhere by the way.

Can someone please punch me in the head?

I figured it out but not saying what i did wrong smile.gif

Edit :

However I am facing the no sound on startup issue which has been discussed over at creative forums and so many people are suffering from

http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=567821

Basically when I start Win 8 there is no sound whatsoever, but the fix is to go to Creative Console Launcher and switch modes. Than the sound comes back.

Good to know I've been re-insalling the beta drivers after every reboot to get sound back.

I'm still having the issue where FlexiJack (Line in to Microphone), EAX Effects, and X-Fi Crystalizer settings have to be reset after every reboot.
