Spending Money...

Thread Starter
Hi all. New to the forum and haven't done a whole lot of computer building in the past two years and and starting to build a new system. The last one i built I basically did it on my own with out any advice but at this point I'm looking for the best (or close) that I can get. I recently picked up a Tt 10 GT and a Cosair H70 because it was on sale for $70. Current PC: Enermax Galaxy 1000, AMD Pheneom 9950 BLACK, a meager 4gb of RAM, GTX280 and MSI K9N2 Diamond mobo. I use my PC mostly for gaming and I would like to get a mobo and video card that I can use for quite awhile before needing to upgrade. Ive never run SLI before but if i get one of the best cards i can get I wouldn't mind adding another down the road. I'd like to stick with AMD because Ive been using them since you had to close the bridges with a pencil and generally have had a good experience. Any advise. I'm sure this sounds like a vague question but i need a place to start, Thanks!smile.gif

Oh and I'm REALLY out of the loop so sorry if my lingo/knowledge is out of date/wrong Ha!

On an AMD build?

Well here's the start:

Motherboard: C5R2 Overclocks like a boss, and supports just about everything you could want.

I'd recommend waiting for the Piledriver based AMD processors to come out however, they offer much higher efficiency.

Agreed.

And its nice this is in the general processor discussions, we won't get yelled at for simply suggesting Intel.

yeah, i would also recommend intel, but if you dont want to upgrade cpu (which yours is still good) then i would go with that asus board. and probably a 7970, or gtx 680 for graphics. what case do you have. you should be fine on the power and cpu, but might want to get new ram for that new mobo. some dominator ram is always a good choice and fits the red black color scheme
