With this official add-on to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you can purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden, and more. Use all-new tools like the drafting table and carpenter’s workbench to transform quarried stone, clay, and sawn logs into structures and furnishings. Even transform your house into a home by adopting children.

I didn't even know they announced it for PC yet. :s

Anyway, €4,99 seems a little steep for stuff that you could do for free with mods up until a few weeks ago.

No need to buy it. The mod has been out for months for free on SkyrimNexus.

Bought it, even though I have that mod in question. Most likely, people will use some of the things added in Hearthfire later on (such as the cooking animation, and some of the scripts, models, ect). It's only 5$ anyway.

Isnt this pretty much just copying a mod from the mod forums and calling it their own and charging for it. I call bull pucky!

This is cool. I mean there is a mod that does this already but Hearthfire adds more script features that modders want and need!

Wasn't the mod based on ideas from that video where the devs had time to work on fun stuff that wasn't included in the game, such as mounted combat which we now have too, so saying they copied the mod is a little retarded.

True, but it can wait until the Steam holiday sales.

Actually, Bethesda had this idea long before the modder created it. In fact, the modder got his inspiration from Bethesda's Gamejam video, which was released a few months after Skyrim. Get informed people.

I think Beth have every right to copy idea's from mods made using the tools and software they provide in the first place. Modders should be flattered that they're implementing their idea's officially into the game. The very modding community wouldn't exist without Bethesda's willingness to support it.

Besides, Valve "steal" mod idea's regularly - L4D is basically a clone of Killing Floor, for example. you don't hear any outcry about that though(Not that i'm complaining, just making a point).

I personally don't want another AAA game Developer on the scene making unmodifiable games or otherwise discouraging it.
