Hi ya
1. Putting you full system specs in via the USER CP link would help us help you.
2. The HTT he was refering to (darn confusing BIOS terms) is regardine the RAM, not the CPU.
It utilize a 1-5 multiplyer to maintain a 1000MHz default speed with a 5x the RAM/CPU bus speed of 200MHz, so to keep that all stable drop to 4x for up to a 260 MHz OC and above that drop to 3x.

Don't worry about it. Just learn from the mistake. Owning an X2 myself, I ended up just bumping the VCore to up to 1.48V. What cooler do you have specifically?

Hey! maybe this might help. Make sure you read my signature, it has my system specs. with the current system build i clocked my X2 3800+ from 2.0 to 2.4 be carefull though it gets hot!
Idle Temperature
CPU: 31°C
System: 28°C
Full Load Temperature:
CPU: 44°C
System: 36°C

Make sure you got some after market cooling. My stock wasnt up to par, id recommend the OCZ Tempest CPU cooler

but this is what i did to clock my system

1. Go to your Bios
2. Set the PCI/PCIExpress but to 33/100mhz
3. Set your Hyper transport multiplier to 3x
4. Set your VCore to 1.40v for 240 HTT
5. Set your RAM speed to 333 MHz.
6. Set your CPU multiplier to x10
7. At last set the HTT to 240mhz

tell me how it goes.

Yeah it took me 2 months to get my OC right. And look at me! I'm at 3.0Ghz. Running Orthos as we speak. I had to figure a lot of it out on my own through trial and error. Every set up is different. While people can always give you tips and tell you what they think. They can never do it for you.
Unless of course, they're in the same room as you...

Like u said ... i tried what you suggested to and it worked!
Thanks!
God job!

Brgds,
Sergej

PS: What if i want a higer CPU speed, which parameters do u think i would have to change except those above mentioned?
