I'm going for the 3820 over the 3930 becuase I don't do enough editing to warrant it, I do some, but not a whole lot and money is somewhat of an object at the moment. I prefer SLI because it stretches out the period between upgrades, I was running SLI 275s up til earlier this year and only upgraded to the 480s because of the unbelievable deal there was on them. I sold them due to some unpleasent circumstances though.
Anyways, back to my original question, in the case of SLI 670/680, which is going to be the better long term choice. I know the 670s are very close to the 680 and can even meet it with an OC, but when the 680s are also OC'ed is it going to be a linear scale? Or do the 680s OC much higher than the 670s. If they are still neck and neck at the top of their respective OCs I think I would just go with the 670s.

With 1080p and a single 670 gmes that you will have trouble are

Metro (because it is poorly optimized)
GTA 4 (again it is poorly optimized)

Crysis 2 with all the texture packs and DX11 patch will be around 60 fps with a single 670. I played that game with a 1080p and a 670 and it was nice.

But again if you are going to go with a 670 SLI setup, it is just too much power for a 60hz 1080p screen. Trust me on that one. Either grab a 120hz monitor, or a 1440p screen. You will be extremely happy with 670 SLIs in that case.

I forget what thread I read it in, but someone took a 680 and a 670 on a 680 pcb, overclocked them both to their max and ran a bunch of different benchmarks, The only one I recall where the 680 had a huge lead was 3dmark11. Some of the benches the 670 was faster. IIrc he said he could get more speed out of the 670 because it had the same power as the 680 but less cores to work with allowing higher overclocks.

Thread Starter
I saw the same chart, and it also showed that when both are put to their max OC that they are still pretty neck and neck, so I think I will go for the 670s. And yes I am going to upgrading my monitor around the end of the year so it will be worth it to tme.
