Intel forgot about one thing: Apple. The consumer desires a Macbook. And until they start to lose interest on them, for whatever reasons, Intel won't be able to push Ultrabooks successfully.

Or at least, not in the way they are trying to.

I don't understand why the CPU clock would be limited by this other clock. It's an independent clock.

The CPU clock is seperate from the L3/ring bus and GPU so it can scale up/down as it needs.

That's not a great argument...... Android. This other platform has beaten Apple in marketshare.

There are ultrabooks with higher-resolution display, more display outputs, card readers, lower costs, ect. So there are several advantages that do actually exist over the MBA. Those are facts.

You speak for 99% of people on looks? thumb.gif Yeah... that's an opinion.

yeah but android can be placed on anything, even cheap stuff

ultra books cannot be "placed" on cheap stuff, ultra books are high end only products, no $300 ultra books

That's not the point... you had said Apple was a factor because people desired it. Android proves that you don't have to be Apple to sell smartphones.

There's no reason why we won't see a $500 Ultrabook in the near future though. We see some in the $600-700 range that sacrific some specs like hybird storage or slower CPU.

I would assume a $700 ultrabook is still cheaper than an MBA....

your arguements are flawed.

Personally, I know more people that will get an ultrabook than a MBA.

Anecdotes are still anecdotes.

Arm has insanelly powerful allies, arm + and can design ,Samsung is at minimum on par technology wise with Intel to top it all apple get such uber stuff on arm side why bother.and putting lock between serial and parallel is asking for slow product.nividia is also arm .i mean Intel is going vs the whole mobile market.apple see this and even apple don't want to be beside Intel when the face off happen.only one or two could be of help on that front,Microsoft and rim.and Nokia all other could loose too much by going vs arm.arm is the Intel of the mobile world ,and with and now as allies ?nothing Intel bring will be enticing enough unless ms is with Intel, even then I ain't sure, google would probably give pointer to arm and and Samsung to win once and for all.this is why intel does not have the choice ,come back with me cook up uber product and hope google is sleeping or loose the crown of king of the techno world.and we dont even know IBM stance on the mobile world.sadly I think intel lost the mobile space.too many locks in the intel techno.we ll know soon but so far the techno world have chosen arm.
