Corsair H100 - Too noisy..

Thread Starter
Hi All,

I've got the Corsair H100 with the stock fans, and even with the lowest Quiet setting, it is too noisy.
I was looking for some suggestions on replacement fans for the H100, that will reduce the noise..

I am quite eager to replace the stock fans with quieter ones..

i use noctua nf-p12s and akasa apache fans which are similar to ech other. i have also heard the cougar votex (orange blade) are decent fans aswell.

Noctua fans is the only way to go like the above user mentioned. They're not cheap though. Here in Australia they cost $35ea !!

Thanks, for the response.
Will these fans work with the H100 controller? i.e can I set them to Quiet mode, etc using the Corsair controller?

If not, will they still be significantly quieter than the OE ones in Quiet mode ..?

As mentioned above, and also there are AP-15s, Swiftech Helix...

I would recommend AP-14/15 Gentle Typhoons. They're very quiet and have a high static pressure so will cool well.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can control the fan speed if you use fans other than the Corsairs.

As long as the fan is PWM, you'll be able to control their speed smile.gif

Exactly what I wanted to hear...

I'm planning on looking at a few of these .. as there are quite a few suggestions.
If I decide to compare the fans on the following 3 parameters, will that be a fair result?

1. Air Pressure @ 12V
2. Noise
3. Air Flow @ 12V

Obviously I want a quiet fan, but not compromising cooling too much .. as I have an i5-2500K @ 4.6Ghz, as a 24X7 setup

Being off work today, did some research that I'd like to share:
Key considerations:
1. Need a Fan that is PWM enabled, so I can use the H100's Controller
2. My priority is Least Noise, High Air Pressure (Being fitted to a Rad), High Air Flow, in that order

So, I've looked at the below fans, to arrive at a few conclusions that I thought was worth sharing.
1. Akasa Apache Ultra Silent PWM (AK-FN057)
2. Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition (CO-9050007-WW)
3. Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition (CO-9050005-WW)
4. Corsair H100 Stock Fans
5. Cougar Vortex PWM 120 (CF-V12HP)
6. Noctua P120 Focussed Flow PWM (NF-F12-PWM)
7. Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-14 1450 (D1225C12B4AP-14)
8. Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15 1850 (D1225C12B5AP-15)
9. Swiftech Helix 120 PWM (HELIX-120-BW-PWM)
10. GELID Solutions 120mm Gamer Fan WING 12 Blue (FN-FW12-15-B)
11. NoiseBlocker NB-Blacknoise Silent Pro 120mm PL2
12. NoiseBlocker NB-Blacknoise Silent Pro 120mm PLPS (PWM)

Keeping my priorities in mind, I gave them weightage accordingly, and then looked at the data i collected. My analysis gave me the following as the top 3 fans, for my needs ..

1. Akasa Apache Ultra Silent PWM (AK-FN057) - Least Noise (16.05db), High air pressure (2.64) and Medium air flow (57.5 CFM)
2. Cougar Vortex PWM 120 (CF-V12HP) - Very low noise (17.90db), decent air pressure (2.20) and strong air flow (70.5 CFM)
3. Noctua P120 Focussed Flow PWM (NF-F12-PWM) - Decent noise levels (22.4db), good air pressure (2.61) and medium air flow (54.97 CFM)

What do you guys think about the results?
I know a few of you did recommend the GTs, but a) they're not PWM enabled and b) their numbers don't stack up.. But, looks like they work in the real world..
I read a few articles where they've said that the NoiseBlockers are not that good with Rads ..
