"which fans work on the H80/100?" from the corsair rep The "RAMGUY" None!... just th
supplied fans that have been engineered for the H-series systems.
yeah, dont plug into the #1 fan position, gotta be a pwm fan, make sure the start voltage
is less than 5-volts, ive tried all of them in my 15 different installs and they all pretty much
do the same thing, wont start or run @ 100%...
and on my current two systems i use daily
so you can do like others:
undervolt them from the PSU
buy an external fan controller
run them 12volt and like 'em..
airdeano
Wow, good reading! Good thread!
The other option is too run PWM off the motherboard CPU header and control the fans from there. thumb.gif
On my Asrock board i can set temp and ramp.

Hey, that should be worth reading.. Can you please let me have the link? CAn't find it on the Corsair forum??

Edit: I've been trying to find out if PWM enabled fans work with the H100, & I've found this video where you all will see that that the Cougar Vourtex ones are used with H100, and towards the end of the video, the guy is able to control them using the H100 controller.

I am looking further into this topic of whether PWM enabled fans can be controlled through the H100 controller.

Isn't there anybody who's had experience of using non Corsair PWM fans with the H100?

And able to use the H100 controller??

Yes, its annoyingly Nosie... Changing those stock fans for some less noiser its the only thing you can do. I don't remember how thin is the rad fins.. but depending on that you should buy some high pressure fans or low pressure fans. biggrin.gif

Check out the corsair site and you'll see in the images that they are 4-pin connections ..

Edit: I have now taken a look at my H100 & can confirm that the connectors are not 3 pin, but 4pin PWM ones.

The connectors on the H100 block ARE 4 pin, I'm not denying that. The fans that come with the H100 are only 3 pin. So technically it's not using the same properties that real 4 pin PWM fans do, the pump itself is regulating voltage, not the PWM signal. So that's why I said it should work in theory with any 3 or 4 pin fans as long as they can undervolt well.

I don't understand why you're working this hard to get the pump to regulate fan speed, why don't you just get a $20 fan controller and control all the fans at once from outside your PC?

Fair point, a Fan controller is on the cards, but at the moment, I've decided to purchase the Cougar ones and replace the Stock fans.
As a few people have confirmed that they work through the H100 controller.

But, you're right, I might go for a fan controller, like the NZXT / Aerocool ones that look great, on the front of the CM 690 II advanced case. I do have 2 slots vacant anyway.

Hey. I'm in a similar position to yourself. Getting a H100 and some other upgrades including a NZXT 410 case.

I'm stuck for which fans to get too, either gentle typhoons (1450rpm) or the Akasa apache fans. At the moment it will probably be the apache although I originally was going to get the vortex fans. Where in the UK are you buying them from!? I can only see them on eBay coming from Germany.

Thanks.

Hi, I've purchased the Vortex PWM ones from Amazon UK, and I must say that the effect is awesome.
The reduction in noise is substantial and the temp. difference between H100 stock fans & the Vortex ones is almost negligible.

Now, I can just about hear some of the other case fans smile.gif
