I dont think you can tri fire a 7970 and two 5870s? I think all 3 of the cards have to be in the same generational series.

2 5870s was fine on my old corsair 750. 2 7970s was fine on my old corsiar 750. you should be ok.

He's not crossfiring, he's gonna use them to mine or fold with. You don't have to do anything, the drivers are all unified, meaning they work on many generations of cards.

No special setup or anything I just have my main 7970 in the primary GPU slot. The other 5870 is identified by the drivers but is not used during gaming, only during folding/BOINC. I can even overclock the 5870 with afterburner if I choose but the cards run Independent from each other. Thanks for the replies, now I just have to cram this GPU in
