MB for x4 955be

I'm looking for a new and cheap mb for my Phenom II x4 955 black edition. Actually i would like to overclock it to 3.7 or even 4GHz. So i need mb with the vrms cooler or sth like that. So which one is the best: ASRock 970PRO3, GA-970A-DS3 or 970A-G46 ? Sadly None of it has coolers on vrms. What difference between 970EXTREME3 and pro3? UD3 would be the best but it costs too much..

I'd have to go w/ one of these choices by Schmuckley. I've got an ASUS myself and love it! Leaning towards the Sabertooth for the $$. Good luck!thumb.gif

Well... none of your initial choices have VRM cooling. Actually, the 970A-G46 does, but it uses a known-for-failure design. The PRO3 is like the EXTREME3 but with no VRM cooling, crucial if you want to overclock a processor with 125W TDP and have reliability.

Look for different motherboards. the ASUS M5A97 is $85 shipped at NCIX. ASRock 970 Extreme3 is $85 shipped on Newegg.

Asus would be PERFECT but in my country (i'm from EU - ups, forgot to say that, sorry) it costs 96usd ;O insane..

Why not pro3? I'm thinking about home-made heatsink on vrms so maybe pro3 is a great choice?

Another question - do i need OC? What difference in games like i mention before?? If it's not too big so maybe i will oc it to 3.7 max (i mean without voltage increasing).

^ That'd work I guess. The GA-970A-DS3 should have the best VRM quality of the three choices you had.
