Samsung 830 Under preforming issues

Thread Starter
I needed a second SSD so I got the Samsung 830. It seems to be running half the max, I never expect max but half is something id like to see if there is anything left im not seeing.

Samsung 830 256GB
Win 7 64
Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel

I updated the latest drivers I could find, there are the standard SATA controllers (3gb) and a set of Marvell 6gbs ports

I tried the drive in both the marvell and the standard controller. I heard the Marvell sometimes is worse the then the standard 3gb. However it was worse then my marvells.

I ran the Samsung magician software (latest) ran the various SSD optimization settings and ran 2 benchmarks under both ports

Standard Ports

Marvell ports

I ran the Marvell again with AS SSD Benchmark tool

Anyone have any ideas?

That's normal for X58.

I get the exact same results on my P6X58D-E and a Samsung 830 256GB.

Don't worry about it, its plenty fast and you'll only really see the speed difference in benches.

I don't see anything wrong.

Actually the 3Gb/s ports are not worse than the Marvell, you are simply looking at sequential speeds which really don't matter for SSDs. What matters is random speeds and latencies. Also you loose TRIM on the Marvell ports. If you disable the Marvell ports your boot time will even be faster too. Not worth using the Marvell ports at all really.
