$100 Budget for Gaming PC doable? - Page 5

At $100, I would rather buy myself a tablet (Nexus 7 $ $199)
$100 rig is possible, idk about what kinda rig the naysayers are thinking but if you have time and scour ebay, im sure there will be a lot of good deals.

athlon ii x2 - $30
4gb ddr3 -$15
hd 4850 - $30-35
psu (any thing would work with this rig) - $10-15
AM3 mobo - $20

~$110-120 but if you can get better deals on the graphics card, go for it.

This rig should be able to play BF3 medium at medium res.

does that include taxes and shipping, cause getting everything online is going to rack up on shipping easily

For BF3, you'll want GT 430-equivalent performance minimally, and 5670 (passable) or 6670 preferably. Anyhow, I suppose a 6450 could do BF3 at 800x600 or something awesomer.

Best option might be to network. Start talking about computers with friends, maybe mention that you fix old computers, ask if they have old parts laying around. Trust me, selling a $40 P3 computer isn't worth the effort for a lot of people (if you make $40/hour.. why bother with selling - hassling with idiot buyers, haggling, waiting on no-shows, etc.?!?). Option 2, offer to fix virus problems, slowness, or general hardware issues at $10-15/hour. Geek Squad likes to drain peoples' bank accounts (bike repair shops charge less hourly - and they do more than run McAffee and CCleaner), so good chance of people biting. I fixed a friend's coworker's computer, they just wanted the data recovered after I said the HDD had bad sectors/needs to get replaced eventually (HDD is going bad but still works - main issue was viruses.. complete wreck even in safe mode). Fixed it, free C2D system. About 30 minutes active time spent, 10 seconds to actually get a client, all because my friend knew I'm good with computers, and his coworkers think he's decent with them (he is, but I help him with problems so he's not an expert)... ah, the power of networking.

And there's always offering to rake lawns and such, $8/hour, typically say $10 for a big yard, $5 for a small one. You get to have a fun weekend raking, and raking in the cash. Easy $50 right there, if not more.

If you don't like increasing your cashflow, I have all sorts of money saving ideas, I won't elaborate unless there's a specific category you'd like to save in (transport, electric, etc).
