Yes - especially with Trinity. It's recently been suggested that you have 1866MHZ+ RAM. TekSyndicate said that there was about a 20% FPS gain in games from 1333MHZ to 2133MHZ RAM.

Yes, the same video card memory overclocking aspect applies. The faster the memory frequency, the faster the frame rates. Since the memory wont be bottlenecking the GPU's performance. Essentially going from 1333MHz memory to 2400MHz memory is equivalent to doing a 2x overclock on your current video cards memory. Almost double the memory performance. I wouldn't go with anything below 1866MHz. I would grab the highest speed memory your board will handle, if you want the max performance. I would aim for 2133MHz as they shouldn't be too expensive. If you want some really good cheap memory get a pack of these. They operate at 1600Mhz, but a good board will take them up to 2133MHz @ 9-9-9-24 easily.Edited by Warmonger - 10/7/12 at 1:49am

Guys, the substantial gains I've seen from the reviews that compare RAM speeds with the new APU's suggest there is more performance to be gained from this new architecture by investing in the best RAM O/C capability board you can buy. ASRock has a couple offering 2600 Mhz!
Do your research well on RAM: the VRM setup on the board in question (8+2 would most likely be great) and what quality MOSFET's it's using, also can you enhance the cooling for it; then get the best RAM with the highest rating you can afford. Lastly, if you got an extra C-note, pop for a HD 6670 with a Gig of DDR5.
You do these things and you'll wind up with a rig that's twice as fast as a stock 1866 rig you saved $200 on.
Mark my words, this new APU stuff is gonna be like deja-vu with the Athlon 64 X2 nearly a decade ago. It's a game changer. In two years we'll be hearing the same crying from the Intel fanboys, "Just wait 'till we get on die graphics. You'll be sorry then!"

done a bit of research and i am going for a ASRock FM2A75 Pro4 FM2 AMD A75 which is around £68 in the uk but for £59.99 there is a ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M AMD A75 Chipset which as far as i can see the only difference is the size unless im mistaken or just missing something?

The mATX Asrock doesn't have legacy PCI, that's the difference
- http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/feature-gallery-amd-fm2-socket-based-motherboards-seen-computex-2012/asrocks-amd-fm2-offerings
A85x seems to be more heatsink-ed and pack more power phases than A75, generally speaking.
It' not because of AMD specification, probably motherboard manufacturers' market segmentation into enthusiast board (like H77 vs Z77/Z75).
IMO A85X is a waste if A75 has same power delivery and features (except Crossfire+ a few extra SATA3 ports that most people won't fully use). However some A85X boards are priced within $10 of A75 counterparts so it comes down to board quality and form factor (Mini-ITX in particular).
We don't have accurate phase counts yet due to doublers being counted by ASUS/Asrock. A good reference is http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboard-vrm-info-database-now-with-socket-fm2
FM2A75 Pro4-M is probably the best A75 option, it's cheap, mATX and has heatsinks

Gigabyte GA-F2A75-D3H looks ok but it's ATX and pricey for A75
MSi FM2-A75MA-E35 has no heatsinks (http://www.msi.com/product/mb/FM2-A75MA-E35.html) i probably cheapest

As I see it, if you're getting a mini-*TX, A85 is necessary only if you really need those extra 2 SATA-3 ports and/or RAID 5. The support for 2 PCIe 2.0 is moot on these boards.
Contrary to what has been said, VRM MOSFET issues are non-sequiter. These are just southbridge chips, they don't have anything to do with power management, that's entirely up to the M/B manufacturer.
