my old laptop was laying around looking useless, it would overheat if you tried to do anything, and as i was flipping around the forum i had found some images of cardboard box computers and figured i'd give it a shot.

not sure how well it'll turn out, i got everything it came with installed tomorrow i'm going to punch a hole for the speakers and webcam then work on getting some additonal fans rigged in.

after that i'll probably find a old laptop hard drive and try to install ubuntu to it see if i can't make a picture frame or something

but so far it booted though the bios fine so i think it'll work.

Had some time tonight so i decided to work on getting things rolling with the box

As a note my kitten jumped on it during the night and broke the box frown.gif but using a tooth pick and more tape i made it stay together

Today i had to make a hdd cage, i used old case screws, original hdd, and the cardboard from my i5 cpu box and more tape.



installing ubuntu 11, its the only live disk i had laying around and yes the cd drive does work, but i don't have the cut out yet so i can't eject the disk while its running.


turns out you can't install 11 on a 8gb flash drive, so i installed the original hdd



here is the new and improved hdd cage, it also is acting as a screen support.



another note wireless does work, webcam works, speakers work, and the touch screen works. Also it seems to have solved the heat issue it hasn't over heated yet, and the cardboard on the bottom isn't unbearably hot so i think its a success so far
