Should I get 120Mbit/s or 60MBit/s for steam downloading and torrent - Page 2

It depends on how much money you can afford to spend and the price difference between the two plans.

But these days i would get the 120Mb/s plan, especially with 3 computers hooked up to it.

Then it wont be a problem downloading torrents / steam games / w7 updates (just some examples) all together without getting to slow speed to browse internet smile.gif

The difference is about 5€ monthly. It will still be cheaper (120mbit) than what we are currently paying as we are using to ISPs.

But would I be blowing money into the air with the 120 Mbit, or not.

Go for the faster one. I usually max my 50Mb/s torrents, and getting a new game downloaded from steam in minutes is really nice.

I had the option of going 50/50 or 100/10
I chose 50/50 but now I wish I went 100/10

Cool thing about cable, I can switch back and forth on a day to day basis if my bandwidth needs go up and down.

I am also lucky my node only has like 300 people on it.

Not sure what torrents you've been downloading, but I've seen my full 12.8mbps transfer rate being downloaded at times. Torrents regularly go over 9mbps transfer rate for me.

I just took this just now, I'm on a 100mb connection, but it almost always Speedtests at over 100-

My vote goes for the 120, for 5 Euros extra, you'll be glad you went with it.

If you can get faster, do it.

Also, not sure where these torrent cap posts are coming from.
It's largely dependent on the speed of those seeding the torrent.

Well it depends on the price of the two and how much downloading you need. If the 120Mbps is slightly more expensive (10-15 euros more/month than the 60Mbps) then I would definitely recommend getting the 120Mbps.

I should be getting an upgrade to 120Mbps in the next few weeks biggrin.gif My ISP said some time in Oct.

No, I maxed out at 13MB/s (I do mean megabytes per second) with Steam. You are right about the torrents, the fastest one I have seen maxed out at 4MB/s for a short while (30 seconds)

At the moment I have 100Mbps advertised but sometimes I get over that, sometimes I get under it, and when I get under it (usually 75-95Mbps) there is a huge difference in speed with Steam compared to the 105Mbps I usually get.

EDIT: I have seen Steam screenshots of people getting 25-75MB/s
