Hello
I just bought a new asus m5a78l le am3+ mobo today. I formatted the pc, installed a fresh win7 x64
But when i start the pc, it gives me these errors:
Overclocking failed!
Over voltage failed!
Press f1 for setup
But i didn't overclock it at all!?!?
I flashed the bios to the latest one but still the same doh.gif
So i need help here...thank you.

1. Reset BIOS settings to default.
2. Make sure you're not on any overclock profile.

The ASUS board in my backup-rig tends to do this regularly, even though the clock is stable. It is actually because the hard drive is failing and it halts the POST sometimes, and hard resetting the board will show "Overclock failed".

Just my 2cents.gif

I didn't touch the bios. It started from the first boot, right after installing windows. ph34r-smiley.gif

I'm planning to buy an fx-8. It is on the mobo's supported cpu list. Do you suggest to use it with this mobo?

No you shouldn't.

The M5A78L-M LE is an unsinked 3+1 phase board and the FX 8xxx (95W version included) chips are extremely power hungry and there's a high chance you'll throttle and lose peak performance.

The board just isn't built for the 8120/50.

A good heatsink doesnt reduce the amount of energy your CPU uses.

hit f1 then f10 ..done! biggrin.gif
er..You might want to set the time in BIOS..or web surfing could be a pain.
But yeah..if you know your settings are OK..f1 + f10 and rock on! thumb.gif

A tower cooler would just make things worse. It eliminates airflow to the VRMs that the stock cooler provides.

Read up on this - http://www.overclock.net/a/about-vrms-mosfets-motherboard-safety-with-high-tdp-processors

It'll give you an idea of what VRMs are all about.

Man, i really don't understand...
Phenom 2 x4 s are125w, phenom 2 x6 s are 125 watt too, but i saw many people that use them with the same mobo of mine.
Fx-x8 8150 is also 125w with 32nm technology (amd says it's a way better power management than phenoms)
So, why can't i use fx-8 while i can use all other 125w-45nm cpus???
