New Build Graphics Card

Thread Starter
hi all, new on here, i'm planning out my new gaming build, here is what i'm thinking so far

asus sabertooth z77
i5 3750k (that i'm planning on OC)
H80 for cooling
16GB RAM
60gb ssd
2tb mechanical drive
900W PSU
a single 1920x1080 monitor

i dont know what graphics card to throw in, the only thing that i've bought so far is the case, which limits me to just under a 12 inch card.
i've been thinking about the GTX680 TOPS but found out that its over my size limit *sigh* been thinking about the HD7970 Ghz, but don't know if thats over kill for a single monitor set-up, as i want this to be future proof for a couple of years.
I don't care about amd or nvidia, price wise, i can go up to £450 ($700) give or take.
any ideas?

Maybe you can get a 750W PSU and get the 680 as the PSU is overkill. Although the 7970 is more than enough for any game you throw at it. You can crossfire later if you want better fps for instance if you get a 120Hz monitor.

Get the Sapphire Vapor X 3gb or gigabyte windforce or HIS IceqX or Asus DirectCUII. Better cooling, better overclocking.

Love my 670 windforce, highly recommend the cooler. Also, with the current price of SSDs you can probably pick up a 128gb for a bit more than the 60gb, seeing the samsung 830 128gb going for $90 on newegg sales

these are my votes, i dont like the windforce bc of the blue pcb, which wouldnt fit well on the sabertooth mobo

I would say the Vapor X with 3 gigs of Vram because you wont need that much Vram until you are using multiple monitos and its nearly $150 less. Save and get a bigger SSD.

Also see Samsung Ram Low voltage, low profile,Great overclockers .
