Coolermaster PSU Overheating

Thread Starter
Hey Guys,

Ive been having a problem, several times now. My computer just shuts down and when I feel the PSU in my case. Its like very hot, im gonna check now if there are not any loose connectors. My PSU is a Coolermaster SILENT pro 1000W.

Attached to it are:
2 6970's (Not overclocked and crossfire DISABLED)
CPU, MOBO (Check my sig)
HDD and a fancontroller.
Attached to the fancontroller are 6 fans though. Maybe I should try unplugging it and see if it makes any change.

Ill start with check if there are no metal pieces of cables touching the metal in my case...

If someone could help me, that would be much appreciated. :S

Haha, yes it is quite fast actually when it gets hot. So the fan is fine. Ive been running it for 3 hours now and gaming atm. With my fan controller disabled. It ran very cool this time. Ill keep it like this and get back to you guys when its starts to fk up again. (Hope it wont ofc.)

Thanks for the help!

Question, why do you have two cards if Crossfire is disabled? That means one of them will be sitting doing nothing. Unless you have it running a distributed computing project, which would be handy to know.

First step of course is to get some canned air and blow out the PSU, it might be clogged with dust.

Don't forget to lock the fan blades so they can't free spin while you do it.

Also a blower would be better than canned air...if you have one.

I have one running disabled because my CPU cant cope steering two GPU's in BF3 (The game I play most). However, it can handle the singeplayer which lets me play with eye candy settings. AND, I had it out just to save some energy, I put it back in just to try again, and because Piledriver is coming soon, ill keep it in.
