LOL... 2 degrees C in a 17 C room. Unless using sub ambient cooling (chilled water, phase change, etc), thats not possible.

Not disputing aspects of trinity are nice. Just your numbers for temp don't make sense

How so? I don't believ you have seen benchmarks then. But I can see how. Keep in mind that AMD Cool and Quiet 3.0 was enabled. This means that it was idling at 400MHz each core with a cooler 3-4X the size of the stock one in an AC'd room.

Still not possible for a CPU which is cooled by a heatsink, which exchanges heat with the air around it, to have lower temperature then the ambient air. The lowest temperature that the heatsink could have, assuming thermal equilibrium with the surrounding system, would be the same as the surrounding system. So, the heatsink cannot have lower temp than the air, and because heat is transferred from the CPU to heatsink and vice versa, it is physically impossible for the CPU to be cooler than ambient temperature.

Note* This only applies to basic water/air cooling.

You really believe your CPU was idling at 4 C ~= 40 F. What was your room temp, 32 F, 0C. Usually processors will idle ~ 5 degrees above ambient. Go look up some physics for me, then come back and talk. You ever think the software could Possibly, maybe be inaccurate.... thumb.gif

When he told me I didn't believe it either. Doesn't seem quite likely. I still don't believe it because, even though I haven't taken physics yet, it seems pretty illogical unless he's just holding some dry ice in front of his heatsink. rolleyes.gif

I'm still considering the i3 + discrete GPU (if I can get a 7850 for the price of a 7770, I'll get it and then overclock it so it performs as well or close to a stock 7950 when I feel like it. Same goes with a 7870 which will probably be unlikely). It'll probably add around $100-$150. I can always knock off the monitors since I have two old 4:3 19" monitors lying around that I can simply use until I get something else.

Edit: two H77 boards I just sorted through.

(they're basically the same, except one being mATX and the other is ATX)

There are some less expensive Z77 boards but there's nothing I'm going to need. I don't see myself going down the crossfire or SLI path since I don't really do anything demanding (even running Dolphin emulator won't require it in most cases). It doesn't really have any extra features I would use anyways.

This build comes with free ram included in the mobo combo. Also this mobo would fit your liking with Sin's list. I should note that the need for a cd drive is becoming fairly useless. Other than installing my last copy of windows I think in total I've used my disc drive like 7 times? The next time I use it will be to make a copy of windows to put onto a flash drive. My next build will not have a disc drive so bam you can save yourself $20 if you don't need one. This didn't exactly and copy and paste the best I could email you the cart if you wanted.

I would get the full ATX mobo, gives you more expandability, unless you opt for a mini Atx case. One thing I have learned about MOBO, is get nicer rather than cheaper, other components are much less hassle to upgrade. Maybe opt for the Gigabyte z77 D3H. 119.99$ at eggtown.

Also the build that peanuts put together is mostly decent.
The mobo+ram combo is a nice value. I almost bought the MSI z77 GD55

I would get a 550 Watt rosewill capstone instead of Corsair for PSU. The capstone series is By Far the best quality for the best price right now. 550 W is way more than enough for any of your potential components. Also cheaper than the corsair, and better. biggrin.gif

Fractal case is abit expensive, but everyone has different prefs for cases, thats sort of a personal thing. Unless going for particular air/water cooling setups, in which case(pun not intended, oops) you need cases with certain characteristics.

I'll most likely get an ATX because I can't seem to find a decent mATX case I'm pleased with that's sub $100 (this is basically turning into a budget build). The only ones I've seen and liked are the TJ08-E, PS07, Arc Mini, and Define Mini.

I really should have snatched a Z77A-GD65 around a week or two ago since it was the price of a Z77A-GD55 ($130 or so). frown.gif Anyways, I'll keep an eye on that one.

I'm aware. Capstone is a rebranded Superflower unit which perform amazing.

I love the looks and the layout for airflow.

I think that a $120 PSU for Hybrid is a bit redundant.

@Shark dude]It's cool to say. But yeah, whatever. I doubted it too. My experience with AMD chips and their motherborads I usually buy in the $60-$150 range will give me faulty numbers. Needless to say though, the heatsink was very cold. Yes it was in contact. IT was a simple Evo 212 that I have installed and bought before and can see it was on it (if it wasn't it wouldn't have survived prime 95)
