RAT 3 limitation or defect?

On my new RAT 3, the rear thumb button is easy to press over its entire length, but the front thumb button can only be pressed on its rear half. Is anyone else's like this?

I can't say i have noticed it, but having just tested it i can say that there is more of a tactile feel on the rear half of the front button. So i presume it's a design, but like i say, i haven't noticed it before, how do you hold your mouse?

I hold it two ways, one with my middle finger on the wheel and one with my middle finger on mouse 2, a lot of times the tip of my thumb rests beyond the front button.
