Wait a few weeks for Vishera FX to release. The FX8350 will be right around this price (~250) and will be AMDs flagship chip. It should also finally kill Stars K10 cores, for once. Great improvement over bulldozer.

On a side note, what motherboard do you have?

Oh nevermind then, you might need a new board for Piledriver (Vishera) to work. As far as all I know, it has obviously been confirmed for 990FX boards, but I don't know about 800 series at all.

It will be hard to find a Phenom II new, for a decent price. Personally I might recommend trying to find a decent Phenom II 960T. Save the money for future upgrades and what not, but that's a personal thing. The 1090T is definitely a decent chip (still, at least until Vishera)- but the price is sort of all over since they are EOL.

i would personally wait until piledriver's prices drop. the 8120 was like $200 and now its $150 im going to assume the same will happen to piledriver if you wait.

The only chance would be if you happen to have a revision 3.1 board, as that is the only version that supports AM3+ processors.....

GA-870A-UD3 (Rev. 3.1)

If you looking for a board on the cheap that will run Bulldozer / Piledriver, I might be able to help you out. I have an 890FXA-UD7 that supposedly can run AM3+ chips with a BIOS update.
