To clear CMOS, unplug it, remove the battery, move the jumper....wait about a minute...DO NOT PLUG IT IN AND POWER IT ON.

But do hit the power on button to drain the power supply.

Put the jumper and battery back and try again. You are not supposed to power it up with the jumper in the clear position.

ok. cleared cmos the right way. still 5 beeps. is it common that a part of a motherboard stops working and another stays intact?

I have a Asrock 890GX Pro3. One time it would not boot. Just a blank screen. I was all upset. Tried everything. I went to get something to eat and came back and it booted right up. I never did know why and I am using it now. Maybe just power everything off and leave it alone for 10 minutes. I am serious. These boards today run even when they are off. It is worth a try.

I'll google and help you hunt....in the mean time just unplug it and let it sit...then we'll try again. I hope it ain't got a bent pin.

You said you had a Athlon II with bent pins. One didn't break off in the socket did it?

I guess 5 short beeps means part of the board is running and the CPU is not starting. Try a different power supply if you have one.

I would take it out and inspect it real good. You have no other options. You have to figure out from there or send it all back.
