This is the man who gave your insanely expensive and under supported console a fan base. Remember how horrific the commercials were before Lambert came along?

Example A: The $150 million dollar PS3 baby ads.

He put his blood, sweat, and tears into being the best and this is how they repay him.

What a bunch of pathetic scumbags.

Pathetic.

I was a huge fan of him and the commercials and I've never even owned a PS3. However, given the circumstances, I really do not blame Sony one bit.

You are missing a HUGE point...

He wasn't endorsing the competitions product (Wii), he was endorsing a TIRE!!! The things you put on your motor vehicle! There was just a Wii in the commercial as it came with the purchase of 4 qualifying tires. Often tire manufacturers will have a Mail-In-Rebate of X amount of dollars, Bridestone decided instead of an Mail-In-Rebate they would offer a Wii instead! Or the rebate via an AMEX pre-paid card.

Again, a huge point being missed...

He wasn't promoting the Wii! He wasn't on screen saying "Buy the Wii, cause its amazing and awesome and everything you want it to be!", he wasn't on there saying "Buy the Wii cause it's cool!".

The commercial was for the tires and instead of a crappy gift card you got a Wii instead! The entire commercial was designed to attract people to purchase the TIRE.

If you're under contract, then you're under contract, plain and simple. Sony has a right to protect their image and brand recognition.

Haha this is funny, apart from a man losing his job the concept of them suing him for playing a Nintendo Wii is funny.

Is Butler under contract?

If so, I don't see how he could be defended. He should expect nothing less unless he expects Sony to just waiver a contract like it means nothing and set a poor precedent.

If not, I don't see Sony getting anywhere too fast.

No.. not a huge point being missed. I understand fully that the commercial was for the tire, but it was a promotion using the Wii. There are two major focuses here.. the tires and the Wii. You buy four tires, you could get the $70 gift-card or the Wii.. and who is, honestly, going to care about the card? It's not directly promoting the Wii but it's close enough, especially considering he is such a huge part of Sony's advertising.
