Oh so he said he gives that much, well by the same logic I'm tom effing cruise and everybody gets whatever they want! Cause i'm paying for it. If you honestly believe whatever anyone tells you, then..... yeah I won't even go there.

It's pretty hard to lye about legal documents, financial reports, registered charities and the fact that you're physically away doing charity work.

I'm not saying Gates is a saint, but he genuinely does believe in his charity work. And anyone who's spent 5 minutes researching the guy could verify what we're saying here.

No he didn't. Nokia killed themselves by making terrible phones. The last good one (before the Lumia) is the n95.

R.I.P. to jobs. He was the head of a very successful company, weather Like their business practice is for another thread/discussion.

I would also like to raise the point that today is also the anniversary for the deaths of:

  • Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie - Developer of C - Died 10/09/2011
  • Max Faget - designer of the NASA Mercury capsule, and contributor to the later Gemini and Apollo spacecraft as well as the Space Shuttle - Died 10/09/2004
  • Che Guevara - Revolutionist - Died 10/09/1967

R.I.P. Today many, great influences, died.

Dennis Ritchie also co-developed Unix (with Ken Thompson IIRC).

Without Unix, there's be no Minix, Linux, Plan 9 nor Hurd (all of which were inspired by Unix). There would be no Solaris, FreeBSD, NextStep, OS X nor iOS (all of which are evolutions of Unix). Without Unix, the WWW would look very different (the 1st graphical web browser was written for NextStep, web URLs follow Unix naming conventions and the vast majority of web platforms run Unix-like OSs). Even the internet, and it's many networking protocols like TCP/IP were designed and developed on time sharing systems such as Unix.

But perhaps the most important contribution Unix has brought us would be high fashion in the form of neck beards laugher.gif

But seriously though, the entire IT sector owes a debt to Unix's legacy, be it Apple, IBM, Oracle. Even Microsoft had their own Unix operating system (Xenix) and who depended upon it for many internal systems before NT.
