Hmm not a fan of the circles, but more bay pump/reservoir options are good. My XSPC is still holding up well though smile.gif

Of course that block is spotless, it was done before the plating started going wrong.

That's actually far better than what most Danger Den FC blocks look like now... they've gone totally backwards in design and EK clearly didn't inspire that (circles happened after the fact).

Most of you forget what blocks use to look like before EK stepped into the picture and yes they pretty much set the new bar for water blocks, hell there blocks look like art work if you ask me.

I don't think that EK alone inspired the entire Watercooling industry that usually comes with progression and innovation.

besides the poor quality of the nickle plating they had other issues of warping GPU boards due to cheaping out on the thickness of the copper.

with that track record and poor costumer service that we all witnessed I will never own a EK product .

For the record I have never owned anything EK with the exception of a D5 top that I bought with a bunch of other W/C parts as a lot and the D5 top is proudly displayed in the bottom of my trash bag .

reason for my dislike of EK is simple if you want my money and respect then sell a product worthy of it .

I'm not saying they inspired the entire Watercooling industry, but thats what the danger den 8800 GTX block looked like, go and look at cooling fins on danger dens water blocks now. I've dealt with EK before and I never had a problem with them, how Eddy handled the nickel plating issue is out of my hands. Bottom line EK took care of the plating issue anyhow they have a 2yr warranty on it. Like I said I have never had a problem with them and I will continue to use EK blocks and if I ever have a issue they will take care of it.

EK improves nickel plating to solve corrosion issues

Limited warranty

EKWB issues a two-years warranty on all their products covering manufacturing and material defects on condition that the products are used in normal fashion. The warranty shall apply for two years from the moment EKWB sells the product concerned (to the first buyer and from official EKWB partner).
Within the period of the warranty, and in accordance with the terms of the warranty, EKWB will undertake to replace or repair all defective components which have been used in normal fashion.
However, the warranty is subject to the limitations and exceptions outlined below.

Old” Nickel plated blocks status
After further tests, only small number of received RMA returns because of corrosion and feedbacks from end-users, Resellers and Distributors, we have decided to continue selling “old” nickel plated blocks, while suggesting use of only market tested coolants with anticorrosion additive.

Some EK products nickel plated with “old” technology will be discontinued after the sale of current stocks, while we will continue to sell only EN nickel plated options.

All “old” and new EN nickel plated products remain with full 24 month RMA warranty on material, machining and nickel corrosion.

Putting a warranty on it doesn't solve the problem.
Quote:
That didn't solve the problem, either. Changing the application system without changing the prep work (which is what causes this in the first place) has and had NO effect. Believing otherwise is just plain ridiculous.

The boiled-down simple fact is this: somewhere along the line, likely to save time/money, the plating people decided it wasn't worth properly cleaning/prepping the copper before plating, and plating issues started arising. Eddy puts the blame on everything but his own people, and after enough anguish changes to electroless plating thinking that would solve it, and it didn't because the shoddy prep/cleaning continued. If that's not clear enough or you still think they solved the problem then I can't help you any further. Until bad plating cases on new blocks drop to ZERO for a solid half-year and continue from there with only extremely isolated cases then that'll be good enough for me. Of course, after that's done, we still have to deal with EK falling behind in performance and aesthetics, both of which it used to lead.

Glad to see they made something like this, more competition is good... but I'll be sticking with XSPC for bay res... I agree with others that feel that the 'circle' designs are ugly; then again I've never been a fan of round - I prefer harder edges on designs. Also, I have just not been as impressed with EK's quality for a while now, especially when their products come in at a bit of a premium price-wise.
