Windows 8 help

Hi, my windows 8 installation keeps booting to attempting automatic repair but then it says it can't complete the repair. Is there anyway to bypass the automatic repair?

Try doing a repair from the disc and see if that fixes the problem. The files necessary for the repair may be missing or corrupt on the HDD.

Funny you should mention that. Completed my rebuild last night and mine did the same thing. Completed fresh install. Fixed

Generally it will only try to do an automatic repair if the system is in an un-bootable state. I'm not sure that skipping it (if possible) will be beneficial in any way. I would connect the drive to another machine and back up any important data, and then reinstall Windows.

Ok, I guess I have to reinstall. Now most of my programs, although installed on another drive isn't going to function correctly. This sucks

I never install anything other than os to c drive. Usually everything still works. Go into the folder on the other drive and click the application/re-add to start menu. Only a couple maybe corrupted not working
