This is the 7th card that I am going to have to RMA now in the space of just over a year! - Page 3

I downloaded the 12.6 drivers and there has been an improvement in terms of the frequency of this issue, but it still happens. The problem occurs too fast to capture via print screen so the best way I can describe it as if parts of the scenery flicker between what's meant to be there and just a plain black surface. Occasionally black boxes will just appear right in-front of me (regardless of where I am looking) I have very little to no mods installed (just the unofficial patches along with some other minor mods, nothing that effects the game graphically) and I reverified the game cache last night so I don't think the game is corrupted.

I ran memtest86+ for one pass along with the windows memory diagnostic and everything came back as working. THE VGA card is set to the default output (my mobo has no video out anyway)

thought of running things at stock instead of overclocked?

first no color at all be it from amd or window.let screen do it.second,no oc.it isnt needed.third you might need to use window fullscreen.otherwise the game or app may try to enable color again .IT NEED TO BE OFF.if by any luck you got an srgb screen you could make amd do it ,but on average screen will say via moninfo.exe :non-srgb,lastly bios.there were some version with different component, and those(onlg those)need their bios in gpu updated.(too long to be explaining process herd

What brands are you buying?

I've never had trouble with any AMD cards save for 3 DIAMOND 4670's, one was mine, the other two were friends. As I checked around, lots of people had problems with them. I've had 3 Sapphire cards from AMD now and not a single issue. Love my Sapphires.

For most of the time, I was using a super flower amazon 550w, which is a brilliant power supply I might add (don't be put off by the name, its sold in Europe and asia only) I am using a corsair 650w power supply now. The first 6850 i had was a club3d, the two 6950's were VTX3D (powercolour rebrands), one MSI 6950, one sapphire 7850 and two asus 7850's.

Since my first 3d card the dual voodoo2 12mb in SLI mode I have only had a few issues. Out of over 20 cards I have had 3 issues. First ever a 7800gtx would not properly SLI with another 7800gtx and then I had a 5850 go wonky then stop working completely and then one of the most overclocked factory pcb gtx680s the evga sig2 crashed in a few games and artifacted in skyrim. I am now onto a 670 directcuii and it won't OC worth a crud but it works just fine.

I think it's obvious that most of those where defective but not all. Some could have been driver conflicts or hardware conflicts and some could have been expectations. Physically not all those cards where bad and that you can take to the bank, but I wouldn't chalk any except maybe 1 up to being your fault and who blames you after that much frustration. My only question is why you didn't at least try a nvidia card. Even with the 670 n 680 though there where plenty of people claiming defect because the factory OC was to high and because msi changed the numbers on the OC slider so people started talking in + instead of actual numbers.

I'd say you have a case of bad luck. redface.gif

I've owned many Nvidia and AMD cards in the past, and in terms of durability, I'd say they're about the same.

Right so I was playing a bit of dawnguard, and it plays fine on the 12.6 drivers apart from that one annoying issue. The screen flashed blue instead of black for a change :-\ Although it also flashed light green once before. You guys reckon I should RMA the card? I don't think there is much else I can do
