I get artifacts in skyrim on my 7970. turn up the fan using afterburner and it goes away.....

Have you managed to figure out exactly what the issue is yet? And can we get more detailed info on a few things in your sig rig? Simply labeling your RAM as "Geil" give absolutely no info that we can work with. Model and speed would be great.
If you still think that its a GPU issue and you have been through more than 7 of them, its not. Its something else that is causing your issue. As to what exactly that is I have no idea.

I completely understand the angle you are coming from to be honest with you. I actually was playing a few other games there and was getting some of the same sort of crap I was getting, so its not a game specific bug anyway. Some of the cards were defiantly broken (as confirmed by the manufacturer and tested on a friends PC)

Out of sheer frustration while I should have been busy studying for a test I had the next day, I decided to say screw it and pull out my old am3 motherboard. The difference is staggering in terms of nearly everything. Web pages and images no longer seem to take a while to load (nearly always near instantaneous now) and even IE8 seemed fast in comparison to chrome on this mobo lachen.gif (I know that windows always seems faster when you reinstall, but I am well accustomed to that now) Even if it does not solve my problem, I will be RMA'ing it now as something was deffo messed up (loading content heavy websites such as the verge would always crash the system for a period of around 20-30 seconds and then a beep would come out of my headset in any browser)

Using my old mobo, as I mentioned seems to handle a lot better HOWEVER (yes, wait for it) the camera movement in a few games seems slow compared to on my other dodgy motherboard. What the hell is going on?

I have skimmed through the thread. I might have to agree with the power fluctuation like some said here. Here's one suggestion I have. When you get a new card do not install it, Pack your rig, go to your friends house, then do the installation there. If everything goes well, then the circuit at your home is at fault.

I know this is quite of a bit hassle to troubleshoot, I remember I had a problem with my rig long time ago so resorted to troubleshoot it at my friends house and found out that my sockets at home are grounded.

well I was playing a certain third person shoot 'em up game today for a good white and it ran perfectly. I did notice one or two oddities like for some reason in one specific level I was playing, objects in the background would flicker/disappear when I would move backwards and forwards but again, I have seen far more demanding parts in the game so I'd say its most likely a bug.

That cursor bug I was talking about seems to have subsided for some reason (must have installed something that fixed it)

there are some aspects of games that dont necessarily render smoothly or perfectly. It's not a flaw of the hardware but rather the game's programming like draw distance.

I think at least some of the things you're referring to as "hardware" problems are actually software problems or psychological that no amount of RMAs will fix.

if you look at driver release notes, every time they release a version they always fix some little bug in a specific game.

Circuit breakers look something like this...and are hopefully labeled so you know what circuits are where...i.e. kitchen, furnace, etc.
