Was going to say, the only variable is your case. But... after looking it up

I'd say no with that fan setup.

I would have to concur with the few users above me. There's no logical explanation that you would have this many bad cards. Something else is wrong, and after years of building rigs for myself, and others, and having only seen 3 bad ATI/AMD cards ever, I'd say the problem lies within your pc, and not the GPUs.
Why didn't you stop buying AMD cards after number two or three? I jumped ship after I got a couple of average 6870s and never looked back:D

I have owned about 30 video cards I have only RMA'ed two cards this is about 20 AMD and 10 Nvidia cards owned. I do overclocking with all of them. I have had fan issues with about 6 cards. One of the two RMA's was a fan issue. I can't say they are two pour at QC. But I should note about 90% of the cards I owned are all reference design. Any ways sorry to hear that. I can say I really like Nvidia drivers much better myself.

same thing happened to me, i bought asus sabertooth 990x, everything worked fine, except that the uefi bios isn't showing, i exchanged it and got a second one, then third one, same thing, i got tired of it so i just exchanged it for a gigabyte 990x ud5, this one worked fine, it doesn't have the uefi, just a regular bios, i can see the bios now.

i found out that the OC'ing capability of this ud5 board is crappy because of the insane vdroop, so again i exchanged it, this time for the asus crosshair v, and i said to myself that there is no way that this board's bios won't gonna show up because it's a different board now.

i got home, installed it, and guess what, the bios doesn't show up! found out later that the problem is my 720p HDTV, it is somehow incompatible with the uefi bios resolution.

The only graphics card I have ever had problems with was an ASUS 8600GT.

I've never trusted ASUS ever again, and I'm pretty certain they sent me the same card back the first time RMAing.

Never play in a lottery or anything dude. You have terrible luck.
There are always some bad GPUs/cards that somehow slip through QC, regardless of who manufactures them. You just have the incredible misfortune of somehow getting several of them in a row. Either that, or there's another faulty component in your system destroying your cards, but since you already swapped out your PSU and motherboard and the issues persisted I guess it's down to rotten luck.

You need to download OC Scanner and run it over night. If you do not get any artifacts after running your card full out then the artifacts in skyrim are not because of a defective card. There have been people complaining of artifacts on the nexus forums and it turned out to be the mods they installed for the game.
If you had got 8 cards of the SAME exact manufacturer and they all came from the same store we could possibly mark this up as being a defective batch or something like that. However you have had cards from different manufacturers, different suppliers, different models, etc. You need to stop blaming it on the cards and figure out what the real issue is.
Also what power supply do you have. On your rig it just says super flower. I believe one of those PSUs have something like 5 12v rails some have 1 rail. What this means is you can max out an individual rail without coming close the PSUs actual limit. Don't get me wrong those power supplies are not bad at all on the contrary they seem to be made very well. BUT if yours is the one with multiple rails you could be having issues because of that. It would be worth checking the voltage output on your PSU.
Please take responsibility this time around and do your do diligence. I would gather that you are going to have this issue on every single AMD card there is. Maybe every video card period. Because the issue is not the video card.
A list of things to do
  • Download OC Scanner run over night
  • Do what other people have already told you to do and completely uninstall all your video card drivers then re-install
  • If you have a spare PSU try using it if not download hwmonitor or use whatever came with your board to monitor the 12v voltage while your card is under full load. Use oc scanner or furmark to get a full load
  • Copy your skyrim mod folder to another directory>uninstall skyrim completely, re-Rinstall skyrim do not add any mods. Play skyrim.
  • Make sure your ram is running at the STOCK settings of 1066 not 1300 not 1600. Make sure the timings are correct. I would not think this has anything to do with the issue but EVGA tech support SWEARS that bad ram can cause issues.
  • Put your cpu to stock just for the time being
  • If all else fails you need to do a fresh install of windows and do not install any software or drivers until windows updates are done. Do NOT let windows install the video card driver. After windows updates install your graphics drivers and skyrim no mods and try that.
I hope you really are this confused and are not just trolling!

I almost wish I was trolling mate, this is extremely annoying for me! redface.gif

Anyway I actually figured that it could well be a power supply issue. My super flower amazon was running fine (it never turned off suddenly, etc) but it did make a mild squealing sound sometimes and while this is something to RMA the power supply about, its nothing to worry about as even some top notch power supply units do this.

The system never shut down unexpectedly or anything like that, but I decided to replace it with a new corsair 650w just in case there was something wrong with it. My hardware was/is not overclocked (including RAM and CPU speed). I do have mixed ram (from the same series and manufacturer) however 2 ram sticks are slightly faster than the other two. The motherboard downclocks the faster RAM to the same speed so I don't think its a problem there (I took out the two faster DIMM's just to make sure and the problem still happens) also, I did memtest on it and it was fine.

I think my card is running within acceptable limits tbh . It runs at 23C idle (got to love the 28nm core biggrin.gif) and 63C full load.

I did reinstall my drivers completely. I first uninstall the drivers using the AMD uninstlaler, boot into safe mode and use driver sweeper and then reinstall the driver I am going to use. I already tried 12.6 (one I am currently on which seems to run the best, i.e. the problem does not happen as much but still does occur) 12.8 was the driver I was first using on this card and I tried out 12.9 but found it buggy as hell (haven benchmark looked a bit messed up)

I will try out your other suggestions when I get home (minus the overclock test, since my system is at stock settings)

So perhaps being a baby and blaming AMD and all of their designs over a unique and personal issue from a non-reference design by ASUS, wasn't the best idea?

Nah, this thread is good. It's a good thread. Best of luck OP.
