New Bios update for gigabyte HD7950 ! - Page 13

So, what benefits can we really see from a VIOS update on this card?

I have one and I believe it's running on the F1 bios, and I've been experiencing issues with one game in particular... Mass Effect 3. I've tried some 5 different drivers and scoured the PC to make sure there's no residual nVidia presence (aside from Phsyx which is required for some games), and there's nothing. Aside from a reformat and fresh start (last resort), I wanted to consider a VBIOS update to see if that fixes the issues.

Other than ME3, the card is perfectly stable, and i even did a slight oc (1000/1250) and everything is still stable in other games.
Using RadeonPro, i haven't been able to do anything to help make ME3 work either... and frankly, if i could just get ME3 to work i'd be happy lol. Kind of a rough welcome back to the Red Team from a decade with Green after all the old Red driver issues of old scared me off. frown.gif

Hi, just got the Gigabyte 7950 WF3 today, i aint a big overclocker, but would you think i could get it to 1ghz using ccc ? and also memory what could i get using ccc, like i said i aint a big overclocker, how would i start using ccc to know how far can push it, also i game at 1080p and like to use high settings and play at 60fps,

i been playing sleeping dogs , ran the benchmark a few times, seems like thats uses alot of power, i updated to the AMD Catalyst 12.11 Official BETA 11 Plus CAP2 12.11 drivers and made a big difference, with the frames per second

my system

AMD FX Piledriver 8350 4ghz
Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler
GA-990XA-UD3
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1866MHz Vengeance Blue
Gigabyte 7950 WF3
Vertex 4 128GB ssd
Samsung F3 1TB
Define R4 Black Pearl Case
850w Coolermaster Silent Pro

Thanks

wow! 1200!!! Nice to hear that. What about the temps?
I also got the same issue with the monitor sleep so I had to disable that option.
Many thanks

I had these same clocks on the F2 BIOS so there is really no difference for me other than not having to use AB to unlock the voltage as it is already high enough (solves some problems). I hit about 63C in BF3 and about 68-71C in Day Z (Arma 2) with everything maxed out in both games except only 4x msaa as I can't tell a difference between 4 and anything higher, but it does lower my FPS. The monitor sleep issue is super annoying and I just turned off the option for it to go to sleep (didn't think about that for some reason - thanks).

I hope they sort out their drivers a bit more pretty quick because it seems that AMD can make progress in some places, but that always leads to a step back in other places.

do you have elpida ram chips on yours ? with a little help of forums i've figured out that my card's batch is kind of poor because of elpida chips which are hard to oc. And there is no bios support for mine, only for hynix ones

My Gigabyte 7950 is either a dud or there's something wrong with the voltage regulation on the card. The vdroop on it is ridiculous....I can set it at at 1.3v in trixx or afterburner but the actual voltage (measured with GPUZ) is only about 1.180v and I can barely get it stable at 1050mhz. It isn't voltage locked because the voltage does change but I simply can't give it enough real voltage to get a decent OC out of it. I wish I could RMA but it's stable at it's rated 900mhz so that's not an option.

You can RMA for black artifacts on DX9 games as I did and will do again. Find 1-2 such games, record a footage and send it back.

Mine is going back too!

ASIC only 54.3%, i cant make it stable at 1.100mhz, even with 1.3.

I mean, it runs Furmark Xtreme Burn easly, i play for hours BF3/FC3 etc, but sometimes it crashes when idle...

And more, sometimes this corruption happen´s:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d_KJIYbP9o

Min 0.14

It has never happen during a game, but during the boot or when 3dmark 11 is loading the test´s it happens mad.gif
