New Bios update for gigabyte HD7950 ! - Page 56

Use OCCT ~30min for error checking, games like BF3, Tombraider atleast 1 hour of playing and also tell me your ASIC quality, if its gonna be stable i will be quite surprised.

I was told by gigabyte that there is no update for cards that came with F2 and to not update to any other BIOS. My card came with F2 and I am using the F43 BIOS - it is working perfectly. They really don't seem to have their ish together at gigabyte.

Well, on theory it is not advisable, because of the different architecture and materials used for different revisions of these cards. However i tried some other bioses too and worked perfect except for the higher temps - obviously i'm talking about GHz bioses.

Hey guys, long time I'm not posting here smile.gif. It's nice to see that my post became very popular hehe smile.gif.
Ok I need some help. I still have my Gigabyte 7950, I still have both bios installed, F2 and F3, right now I'm with the F2. The thing is that I noticed that now my card is requiring a bit more voltage to be stable, the same thing happened a couple of months ago, is this normal ?
For example, about 8 months ago when I bought the card, it was stable at 1100mhz core and 1500mhz memory with 1.218 V, and now.. to be stable at the same frequencies I have to set the voltage at 1.231 V :/ , I don't know what to do, maybe I should leave it at stock? Temps are fine, never above 65° even at 1100mhz core.
With F3 Bios ( 1.25V) I could managed to leave the core at 1120-1125mhz some months ago, don't know if right now it will be stable :/.

Oh and just for your information my card has very low Asic quality, only 52.8%. I think is the worst gigabyte 7950 haha, with stock voltage 1093mv I can only reach 930mhz core xD.

Cheers smile.gif.

Well I have heard some people saying that different versions of the catalyst control center make their overclock unstable or more stable so that might be a factor. Also try the F43 bios on your card and see where that gets you. I have an original F2 bios card as well and am using the F43 with great results. I also asked gigabyte to make us an updated bios for our cards because there is no official updated bios for the F2 cards and I read on their forums that they make BIOS files by request. I'll let you know what happens with that.

Good luck.

Hello, I have tested my GB HD7950 WF3 few times with a lots of BIOSes. But here is the strange bug.
(will be little longer description of my problem)

My Card came with a F42 BIOS My score for 1100Mhz and 1575Mhz in unigine haeven for full detail and tesselation and FHD resolution was 53FPS avg with 12.11 catalyst, then I badly flashed it to F43 the same error for switch 2 and I had to reflash it to some F43 BIOS on integrated Graphic card on motherboard. SUCCES

Then my card was alive and I did the benchmark. Now i was able to unlock OC in MSI afterburner so I set 1170 core and 1645Mhz MEM.
Score in Haeven was only light over 50FPS avg, Then I flashed to FZ1 and the score was under 50FPS but more stable.

If I flashed FX1 and FY1 BIOSes there was some automatic oscilating function which generates the clock of the core depending on GPU usage, so It was oscilatin every second between 500 Mhz to a 1170Mhz and games run much slower and my benchmark was in Heaven at 38 FPS avg.

Now for the last I flashed to official downloaded F43BIOS and have in benchmark less then 50 FPS avg. with catalyst 13.3 beta 3
My original catalyst were 12.11 for the 53 FPS avg in Haeven. If I put them in there now, my average score is 48 FPS for that overclock(1170Mhz, 1645Mhz) at 1300mV and 1500mV

So my question is. Did I messed some computing units, or I broke the bios by such many flashing? Or why is it more thas 10% slower than before?
Reinstalling drivers and Afterburner I do after every unsuccesful flash.

Is here anybody who have own ORIGINAl bios version F42 from GIGABYTE WF3 amount 4 months old?
I thing it could help to get that results again. But i forgot to save my original frown.gif Maybe it was ultimate unique one with ultra high performance....thumb.gif

Well, i think there is very simple explanation - may be you were using Heaven version 3 before and now you are using Heaven version 4... smile.gif If this is the case - it is normal because the newer Heaven is more demanding...smile.gif
My card came with F42 bios and nowa i'm using F43. Let me show you my best result in Heaven 4(1200/1800MHz:

I have hoped that you are right but Im still on 3.0. I was not upgrading, or its upgrading itselvs automaticaly? Im not now on my PC so I dont know exactly the version. Maybe I will download the new one v4.0 and then wil send a picture to compare with you ;-) but still thing that I damaged it by flashing BIOS.
Dont you thing that 40FPS is little low for that high OC? How did you get the memory on 1800Mhz? im not stable on more than 1645Mhz not depending on voltage. Max is 1700Mhz for a while ;-) not for playing games for hours.

Oh now I remember that I "upgraded" from i5-750 3,6 Ghz to a i5-2500K 4.8Ghz, maybe this is the problem. maybe its slower for this bench... hmmm?

No - the cpu is not the problem... smile.gif
Well i achieve 1800MHz with 1.7V. but i try it only for some benches - i don't play games like this... smile.gif
Heaven don't upgrade alone, but may be you uninstalled it and then download it again - i don't know, so just check the version... I don't think that you break your card with reflashing bioses, but i'm not absolutely sure about that.

And it could be the way you do the benchmarks - may be before your settings were different.

>>>>>>would anyone care to share F43 bios? i'd immensely appreciate it.

plus, I will definitely upload it to techpowerup with proper tags, so all the users can freely get it without any worries.

Thanks for your time. and gigabyte, F--k you, your LACK OF VRM COOLING IS A F.A.I.L.
and you will NOT get any respect for your cheaply made product from abused Chinese labor overseas.

TL;DR i won't be buying from them again. I'd be lucky if I can even overclock stable or last more than 3 effin years
^
Because of this, i will be getting a COPPER HEATSINK from newgg with a cooling PAD
you know, make a fancy ass mod for the goddamn VRAM

I will tell yall how the results go. stay tuned or whatever.
