Galaxy GTX 680 GC 4GB good brand? - Page 2

Okay so I got my graphics card =) I'm really excited but I have a question and this might just be my OCD kicking in...

Okay so the front of the card. Is the cooler supposed to be off the PCB? What I mean by that is there is enough gap that I can press the cooler down onto the PCB and when I let go it comes back up. It doesn't seem to be screwed down from the front only the back half.

Is this how the card is supposed to be?

Yes, that's normal. Just like any precision hardware it must be handled with care, but it's securely bolted down in all the places it needs to be to cool properly. The relatively loose fit of the fanksink over the other areas of the PCB is part of the design; the dual fan layout moves air more with momentum than pressure. Also, you'll notice there are some small screws in the sides of the aluminum shroud which makes the whole thing fairly easy to remove for routine maintenance and cleaning.

I might be a little biased being that I'm the Galaxy rep and all, but I use this exact card myself in my primary rig and it's been outstanding with regards to cooling and OC.

I found this 680 4GB for so much cheaper than the others. I'm looking at the Evga ones and not only are they more expensive but have lower clock speeds and reference design.

The thing is though I have never heard of this brand. Can anyone vouch for their products and warranty? Also are they known to have coil whine? One of the reviews mentions it but maybe it's just an off occurence.
Thanks ahead of time
And I know there are people who recommend a 670 over it but I am set on a 680 smile.gif

Andrew can not say because he is a Rep but ill let you know

The Galaxy GC 4GB.. Vs Evga FTW

Galaxy has a much better cooler
Galaxy is using Samsung Vrams
Galaxy is using custom chokes
Galaxy has a vented PCB for more effective cooling of the Vrams

Galaxys design of this card makes it one of the most simple cards to Mod / Maintain Cooler removes from PCB with 4 screws then you remove 2 plugs the plug for the Galaxy logo light and the 4 pin connector for the fans.

The cooler mount system is so easy i think a novice could handle it if they read up on handling of PCB's etc and how to apply tim.

Polishing the stock Heatsink block gives great cooling results i did this myself and got an Avg of 8 C temp drop in an open SLI config.

Galaxys cards are priced to sell

Galaxy almost always offers the Highest factory OC cards for less money then the other guys.
