Gaming peripheral setup (help needed)

Hi guys. Haven't posted anything for a long time but I need your advice on something.
Basically I recently arrived to UK to study at Uni and I left my gaming PC back at home but I still have my Retina Macbook Pro that is more then capable of running newest games quite well, only problem is that I don't have a good mouse. As a student I don't want to spend more then 70gbp for a mouse so I have come down to two main options.
1) Logitech G700 (I love that it's wireless, so easy to transport and better for laptop gaming) About 62GBP
2) Logitech G500 + Xbox 360 controller (Had G500 back at home, loved it but after few years had some doble click problems) 33+25=58GBP

Right now I'm mainly playing Borderlands 2, but I am looking forward to games like Assassin's Creed 3, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, etc.
Last time I used gaming controller was back when I had PS2, have never played with xbox controller but should be good in 3rd person shooters.

What do you think - first choice, second or may be something else?

Consider yourself lucky to have double click issue on your old mouse only after a few years thumb.gif

Since you haven't listed any of your requirements, do you want us to choose from these 2 combinations only? If you haven't done so already, I suggest you reading this thread first.

IMO the most important consideration when you buy a mouse is whether its shape fits your hand (or whether your hand adjusts to the mouse nicely), and then consider the feel of clicks, side buttons, scroll wheel and what not. If you are sensitive with the cursor movement and can feel a few % of +/- acceleration or if prediction bothers you, then also consider the sensor used in the mouse, otherwise most "gaming" mice tracks well and do not jitter enough to bother.

Also, a mousepad is essential for a gaming mouse biggrin.gif

They have different shapes and feel different in hands. Also their side buttons are positioned differently, G400 has a mushy scroll wheel while G500 (and G700) has a different scroll wheel (hyperscroll-type) altogether.

I had G500 and I loved it. I was about to get G700 since it looks even better and is wireless but then I noticed that G500 and Xbox 360 controller together is cheeper.
So what do you think. Go with G700 or get controller and mouse?

As I said, the biggest choice between G500 and G700 would be how the shape fits in your hand... That aside, these two mice are quite similar except that G700 has more buttons and is wireless. If you prefer those extra buttons and really want the wireless, then G700. Otherwise the G500 + controller combo gives you more gaming options tongue.gif

I really like G500 shape and I'm pretty sure that G700 is even better. I guess I should just get G700 and later on Xbox controller for 3rd person shooters. Thanks.
