replacing fans with corsair SP120 quiet editions - good idea? - Page 3

i own 12 SP120 performance and 2 SP120 quiet fans. i use a molex from the PUU for voltage..
the SP120 perf undervolts well. on 7v a slight more wind noise than the quiets.. the quiets just
cant cool like the perf(s). with a fan controller, it's be a finer adjustment for quietness.. but i dont
use controllers or fan headers... more wires to sleeve and route..

so my fans will be here today. and ill test them out tonight hopefully, assuming i am able to get to the office to my apartments before they close to get the package.

idk if providing some comparison matters a great deal to people but should i both re-attaching the stock 212 fan as push just to have the same orientation for both fans or does it even matter that much for comparison testing purposes. im really not expecting to see any extreme temp change, but i do expect a change in the noise level of the fans

you could try it both ways. but from my experience, the over-run of flow-rates
between the two would more than likely bottleneck and prove no difference.
but try each configuration and test and restest to find the best solution for
your setup.

test results. i have installed the AF120 as my rear exhaust. and i have to say im extremely happy with the results. only 2 degrees warmer considering these fans move less air and are lower rpm as well. but they are much quieter. and by 2 degrees warmer thats compared while folding. at idle the results are about the same. but i pretty much let my computer fold all day when im not using it

just tested out new fan and did a short not very scientific comparison for basic reference. new fan is Corsair SP120 quiet edition

This is with stock 212 fan at Idle and prime95 blend:

New Corsair SP120 at idle and prime95 blend:

Overall, i would have to say that pretty cool to get like one or two degree cooler on average the best part is this fan is super quiet so now my computer is barely louder than a soft whisper while sitting 2 feet away from it. computer also sits on top of my desk at head level.

I'm running 4 of the sp-120 quiets with the supplied resistors on my rad, nice and quiet. Now I can hear the powersupply and the pump again.

At full speed they were a bit loud for my tastes.

Looking at buying some of these in the next few weeks or so.

2 SP120 high performance models for the H100 rad and a AF140 quiet for the exhaust on my 800D.

i guess the more you add eventually they will together make more noise. i dont have a super heavy OC, im actually running at stock right now and pretty much barely break 60degrees while folding at full load.

im considering replacing the front 140mm stock fan in my case with the AF140 just because the stock fan in this case seems like it doesnt even do anything i feel no air being moved by it even putting my hand behind it with the case open or in front with the case closed up.

Just got my three fans put in and wow am I shocked at how much quieter these are. They are hooked up on the 650d fan controller and they are quieter on full blast than my other fans were on low. Here is a pic of my fans.

How would the Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition compare to the Noctua NF-F12, regarding radiators? The noctuas cost 20 euros each, the Corsair only 13.
