Hello everyone as you can see I need to set my computer up better. First some info on the system
Asus Eee PC
Intel atom 1.60 ghz
OME ram 1gig
11"screen

Now what I need it to do, I need it to run minecraft better. I already have optfine on the computer and it's all set up but, is there more I can do? Last I can get any and all forms of linux so if there is a better one that can run it better I can and well get it.

thanks for the help

I've got a very similar machine and stripped down everything on Lubuntu and tried to optimize it for minecraft, didn't really work. The best I could squeeze out of it was about 20fps. These little machines struggle through minecraft. Good luck with finding the answer though. I would like to know if anybody else had better luck.

how stable was it? Because 20 is good enough for me.

I uninstalled it a couple days ago because it was unplayable. I had everything down to the lowest settings and it would go from 20fps to 8-10 fps walking around. Inside caves wasn't as bad.

Let me re-install and config it and get back to you.

As dumb as it sounds yes I do expect more because I feel the moment you don't expect something you stop trying to achieve it and, if you stop trying to do something you stop learning how you can do it and at that moment you become a mindless drone.

edit: I have also heard that decreasing the "nice" level on system monitor well make minecraft run better. Could anyone tell me how to do that because every time I try it says nope you cant do that.

Switched to an SSD in that notebook before I tried again and still no luck getting past 20fps. I figured the SSD would do much if anything to help. It' hovers around 10-16 / not playable. These things really aren't meant to handle minecraft. Now if you want a great game, roll dosbox and Daggerfall.

Well maybe not playable for you but at 8-14 FPS its plenty for me but, thanks anyway for taking the time to do that for me.

On the matter of changing the nice level on games I have found out how to do it through terminal.
