It could be around 150-200MB/s transfer rate, compared to 1 drive doing 60MB/s, like what you have setup. But you could use what you have picked out and have 170MB/s easily.

the hp lp2065 looks nice; it is actually classified as small & medium business product, rather than consumer electronics. LOL.

the HDD transfer speeds, will they matter if i dont mind waiting a couple of minutes transfering a few GB of stuff from one place to another? and if my setup already can allow up to 170mb/s, is that not good enough already (assuming i actually do raid)? im more concerned about quality of HDD and the actual storage space that can be used, if waiting times for transfers of large files are only a few minutes, then i dont really care (unless someone can give me a really good reason to care about).

thx ksimp88 for your suggestions.

Judging what you just said, yes, you will be just fine. However, I recommend that you use Western Digital. I believe they have better HDs. I am using one now, and I love it. Absolute silence during high transfer rates.
Here is the 320GB version of the WD I have, but below it, is a version with a 16MB Buffer. It may be hotter, but I bet it's still silent.

hmm...can consider the WD HDD, only a couple of dollars more expensive. lol at it, it is also considered enterprise drive, not consumer drives, on the website of WD. does it have NCQ like the maxtor one? what advantage does NCQ HDD have over non-NCQ ones?

in layman's term, i think ncq (native command query) can arrange the order of data to be retrieved so as to reduce access time.

as for hdd, i think WD, seagate and samsung are fine, just dun use Hitachi....

will asetek's vapochill micro (costing ~US$40) cut it for cpu cooling? or is it worse than the best air coolers out there (tunic tower, BT, scythe inf, zalman 9700)?

so essentially you are saying that BT is the best air cooler in your opinion? i also see that there is "AcceleroX1" in your cooling. what is that? is it possible to combine a few coolers together to cool the cpu (and maybe other parts)?
