I have both PC and the PS3. It really depends on what type of games you're interested in. I use my PC only for MMOs and play all other games on my PS3. When my girl is on the PS3 I can just pop on my PC. biggrin.gif Luckily for me I Iove most genres so I have tons of games to choose from. Anything from fps, action adventure, jrpg. PS3 has some great exclusives like God of War, Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain. I also love fighting games and sports games which the PC doesn't support too well. I can't wait for upcoming PS3 games such as The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, and Tomb Raider

You forgot to mention that Crysis was unplayable on anything but medium settings for the first 3 years after it's release....any game dev can release a game that has amazing graphics but is unplayable and gameplay wise Crysis sucked....Crysis is only pretty much considered a benchmark just like 3Dmark and compared to todays games Crysis's graphics are a joke lol.

You can think that I'm trolling all that I want but my point still stands. Any game dev can make a game that has graphics/physics that will be nearly impossible to run on modern hardware (Crysis fits this example) and gameplay is timeless while graphics are not.

I have seen Crysis at maximum settings and the game still is considered garbage in my book compared to today s games. Head shots don't even insta kill and the stealth/gunplay is a joke int hat game.

It's just another version of 3Dmark really. I dont care how good a games or benchmarks graphics is......if the gameplay sucks then the gameplay sucks......

It's also the reason why benchmar websites and PC enthusiasts use it a long with 3Dmark as the benchmark for graphics......you will almost never hear anyone say "Crysis has amazing stealth, gunplay, gunplay, and one of the best storylines of all times it's easily one of the best games ever". I have yet to hear that statement. When people talk about Crysis all that I hear is statements about bad unoptimized code and amazing graphics.....that's it.

I play games for the gameplay if you're so worried about graphics maybe you should be a graphic design major and work on new versions of 3Dmark someday or even help out in 3D animation.

For a first time PS3 buyer who did not own a PS2, any reason I would get the slim over the super slim?
Not really, I mean, it's a little slimmer.

That's the ONLY difference....

The super slim has a sliding top, I prefer the slot loading mechanism of the fat and slim. But other than that, there's no difference.

This is not exactly true. When Crysis came out a lot of people where still running sub 1080p monitors and that saved a lot of rendering power. Crysis ran pretty damn well on a C2D + 8800 GTS SLI @ 1280 x 1024 or even 1650 x 1050. The reason why it took so long for people to max crysis was that monitor resolutions kept increasing. Also saying Crysis "sucked" is just your subjective opinion. Me and other people quite enjoyed the game. True it was no HL2 but a pretty good shooter none the less with interesting game play and sold FPS mechanics.

You can argue all you want but the fact is that graphics play a large role in how gameplay mechanics can be implemented. Crysis would not be the game it is with out the foliage, long draw distance or free roaming environments.

Edit: Lol only just noticed how old the posts where redface.gif Viva la necro thread tongue.gif
