With the Tempest you just unclip a front fan and slide out the HDD.

Checked out the Tempest. Looks okay. In researching cases all day, I was drawn back to one of the original cases I was considering.
The Rosewill BLACKHAWK, and now it's all up in the air again.

I wish I could smash the Tempest and the Blackhawk together and take what I like from both.

I am leaning more toward the Tempest at the moment.
I like the plain and uniform design. I read that the power/hdd led is super bright, not fond of that idea.

The thing that draws me back to the Blackhawk is all it's extras. 5 fans included (the lights lean me back toward the Tempest), the sata dock (although I probably wouldn't use it much)... Doesn't seem to have dust many screens, which is one thing I like on the Tempest.

I'm still considering.

Any last comments from anyone regarding the parts below?

I'll just do a quick search for a Blu-Ray drive. Not too concerned with this, but I always welcome suggestions.

And I'm looking at starting with 2 x Western Digital Red WD20EFRX 2 TB 3.5-Inch Internal Drives --- $126.09 (Amazon)

THANKS

The blackhawk can't fit as many HDDs either, and it looks like hotswapping them would be a pain in the ass. You'd be likely to unhook the power on other HDDs in the process unless you do some custom cabling. And you can always use the difference in price to buy those extra fans (Nexus Basic / Yate Loon D12SL are a great choice).

And yeah everything else looks good. You won't need that large of a PSU though. Even a 450W unit will be plenty.

sim~build (Click to show) Here's my try on a sim~build, around you budget,. i use a real server ivy procie 4-core+HT match with a compatible asrock z77 e3g3, I use a non-ecc ram since I using a z77 motherboard instead of a server type mobo, its the samsung wonder ram low voltage and overclockable, I use the green wd hdd (different model) instead of the red, same warranty though, use a rosewill 430W 80+, with an adequate railing amps. I use the Rosewill R5 with good airflow & cable management, much like a NZXT tempest 410 w/out the hot swappable thing I think, anyway your still going to open the side panel to unscrew the hdd based on ncix unboxing the hdd is lock with a thumbscrew. Just an option though nevermind go with your build.

[quote name="xnuw" nevermind go with your build.[/quote]Thanks for the reply.

I ordered all the components Monday night.

Hopefully I'll start a build log later this week or early next. I'll be really busy with work and class for the next five or six weeks.
I'm really looking forward to this build though, so I'll do my best to document and make posts.

Should also be helpful if I run into any problems.

Thanks everyone!! thumb.gif
