FX-4170 OC

Thread Starter
Finally did some work trying to OC my 4170. Got it to run 4.725 stable for about 7.5 hours on prime. (Then I woke up and stopped it, it was still going strong) I'm using a AsRock Fatality 990 Pro motherboard and a Antec 620 watercooler. From what I've seen around here and other forums this seems really good for this chip anyone else having any better luck, is there room for me to improve?

Heres a link from CPU-Z of current settings...

That's a good overclock for that chip. thumb.gif I run my 4100 at 4.5 24/7 but the best I got stable was 4775.83 MHz

What are your temps?

Seems to idle around mid 30c and when gaming 40c to 50c. When I ran that prime blend over night it hit a max a 65c at some point but when I woke up temp was around 59c according to Open Hardware Monitor.

It looks like yours didn't take quite as much voltage to get up to 4775 Mhz. I've tried to pull a little voltage out but it just will not stay stable for even like 10 mins on prime. What kind of temps do you get with that chip?

I was getting temps around 55-59c @ 4.7 using my Kuhler 620 in a push-pull configuration. I run @ 4.5 with 1.38-1.408v now with a single fan and my temps dropped 10c and I don't see any real difference.

I've got mine running at 4.82 right now, but have just been using that for gaming. Haven't put any real stress tests to it. Cooling it with an H80 on an Asus motherboard.
