Okay, so last night my PC recently just basically turned off on me (no display, fans still running), I turned it off by holding in the power button, tried to turn it back on and it was completely dead. I'm hoping that some sort of power surge or something didn't ruin components on the motherboard and/or CPU/GPU.
This power supply is an OCZ Fatal1ty 550W. This power supply has been running for around 6 months but is now completely dead. I disconnected my GTX 570, then plugged in a rubbish, spare 500W and the fans seems to power up, so I'm assuming the motherboard is not dead. As to what caused this failure I do not know, I had been instructed that 550W was enough to power everything.
The good news is that I contacted Amazon (where it was purchased) and they are offering a full refund. Now I'm left with the task of either buying another one the exact same, or buy a different one. The original purchase price of my PSU was £60, so I'll get that back. I'm on a budget of around £90 but don't have a clue of what to buy.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
