Oh, ok. Guess I can't enter into the competition but thats cool. I'm asking because I've designed a computer that I'm going to have someone put together within a month or two, but I completely understand the reason.

I'll think about it, the main things that I need help on are power cables (pretty much just what goes where), how to download Windows, and how to overclock. Other than that the main thing is that I get nervous about breaking anything lol. I think I've got the hardware that I want to put in down as well as the cooling equipment and any asthetics. I'll post the build specs below:

Case - Case Labs SMH10 (with side 480 radiator mount, front flex bay 480 radiator mount, XXL window, fan cutout back panel, and top and side vents) (outside painted glossy black and the inside covered with white carbon fiber vinyl)
Motherboard - Asus Rampage IV Extreme
CPU - Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 3960X 3.3GHz
Video Cards - SLI GTX 680 4gb Classified Hydro Copper
Video Capture Card - Avermedia Live Gamer HD PCIe H.264
Sound Card - Asus Xonar One
Hard Drives - 3 Corsair Neutron GTX 240gb, 1 1tb Velocilraptor
RAM - Corsair Platinum 32 Gb
PSU - Corsair 1200W Platinum
Lighting - white LEDs (to "showcase" the build)

Cooling
Radiator - 2 XSPC AX480
Pump - 2 EK D5 with white and black pump tops (black pump on bottom, white on top with white top pump facing toward the window)
Reservoir - Bitspower 400mm Clear (caps painted white)
CPU Block - Swiftech Apogee HD White
Thermal Paste – IC Diamond
Fittings - Koolance fittings with a few quick disconnects
Tubing - Tygon 2475 High Purity (might have to replace with Durelene, Tygon has a reputation of changing color when exposed to Mayhems coolant, however this is a different formula than usual Tygon as it has no plasticizer and is resistant to absorbing fluids).
Liquid - Mayhems Red Pastel (made a little bit darker with their dye)
Fans - 8 Silverstone FM121, 12 Gentle Typhoon High RPM (3000 rpm version)
Fan Controller - NZXT Sentry Mix (2 channels per radiator, 1 channel for the other fans, and the last channel can hopefully be used for the LEDs)

I expect this computer to last for at least 5 years.

Honestly, you should try to do this yourself. About a year ago (may 2011) I ordered a bunch of stuff to build my very first computer. I also decided to watercool it. OCN has been the best source of knowledge I've come across. If I were you I'd start to read up on different subjects (water cooling guides, how to build a computer guide, how to OC guide etc.).

Then start a build log thread (find a name for your rig). Post pictures and your progress. If and when you hit a snag, take a pic and ask for the communities help. You'd be surprised how much you'll get. thumb.gif

Yes, you would learn a ton, and feel more proud of your build IMO, plus you would know how it works inside and out. There are people here to help, most of us learned what we know from here, and they are ready to help someone else. It could be the same for you! thumb.gif

Alright, you guys have convinced me to do the mod myself (except for the painting and the vinyl, I don't have any room to do that stuff in my apartment). I still have about a month and a half to wait until I'm able to purchase any parts, if you guys could post some links that you think might be helpful so that I could learn in the meantime it would be appreciated.

I think you should write down a list of things that you think you might have trouble with and/or not know how to do.

Once you've gotten the list (no worries you can always add more later), start a thread in the Case Mods - General Discussion. Included in the post would be your systems specs (or the ones you have planned), the questions you have and the goals you wish to reach with said machine.

After that you'll get answers from the community (a lot of suggestions also, though most are pretty good).

Get to it!! thumb.gif
