The GTX 550Ti is actually the newest thing in my current rig because it replaced the video card that I originally had. I am thinking I should just get another GTX 550Ti soon and just get SLI and roll with that for a little while.

Ehhh the 550 ti isnt that great of a card, when sli'd it's not that great, it is better to get a single more powerful card and then SLI it later when it's not enough.

If you can grab a 3570k from a microcenter that would be a start as you'll save some money. If when you do it there happens to be a 3570k+z77 deal going on go for that. I got my gigabyte board and 3570k for roughly 310 bucks in August. Other than those two things in mind from personal experience working with a few things here are some recomendations:

MB:

or

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157295

I've used all these boards (personally own the gigabyte) and they are great.

RAM:

Just make sure you get at least 8 gigs IMO but anything over that is overkill IMO.

for 50 bucks can't really go wrong with this or something similar

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231519

SSD:

something similar to this sata iii good size so you don't fill it up too fast

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226237

CPU cooler:

this is kinda tricky if you want you can just get a 20 dollar hyper 212 and get 4.2-4.4 (depending on variables) pretty decently easy. If your wanting to try to get 4.5 or a little higher I'd recommend spending a little more money depending on what your case can fit (as ivy runs a little hot compared to sandy) . the options here are kinda all over the place if you don't have anything specific in mind about the cooler . 212 for fun anything else is just for if you wanna get a little higher clock.

PSU for future SLI you should be fine with something between a 650-750 watt psu. I agree with earlier posts though if your budget is 1000 bucks then you should look into a new GPU if you can.

something like this would work:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139040

anything more spendy is just for bells and whistles and more power availability.

if you get most your stuff and have some money left over I would definitely look into a better gpu.

if you like nVidia

but I prefer a 7950 for that price range

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202006

either way you'll love your 3570k build i know I do!!!

You Americans are lucky, everything is so expensive here in NZ, for my to build a rig with a 3570K and a 7950 and all the other normal stuff, would cost me USD 1633.00!

That's why I'm saving now while I have work lol biggrin.gif

As for a GPU recommendation. I'd say 7950, it's an epic bang-for your-buck card. And once overclocked will achieve even greater performance (like, faster than a stock 7970)

Any preference on gpu? Price? Like i said earlier 660ti and 7950 are good $300 options depending on what you are looking for.
