$100 vs. $5 HDMI cables?

So, I haven't been able to get a good read on what the price difference means? Is picture quality or life of the cable really going to change? Got a new 3d tv and I'd like to buy a cable that will last 5-6 yrs. Suggestions welcome.

i have bought all my hdmi cables from newegg cheap and my cable dont seem to go bad i would rather spend 5$ per cable and have to replace them every couple years the a 100$ cable that only last double that and stuff that i have read doesnt say more money you spend means better product

It's a digital signal, so any cable that actually functions properly will be as good as any other cable that functions properly.

Good cables are around $10-$20 depending on the length, buy from a reputable brand, look for gold plating, good isolation..

I actually got ahold of a Monster Cable 1 meter HDMI cable and I compared them to a Panasonic JVC Sony cables and i could see the difference with the quality of gaming and fast moving objects especially on a Plasma tv. Plus the cable has lasted me several years now. Thous $5 cable allow alot of interference, which degrades the signal.

If you have a high end system that extra money is well worth it.

They're all the same, as a user pointed out above since it is a digital signal, it'll be exactly the same. You only need to worry about the cable if it's like 100 feet long.

I've bought cables from monoprice, ebay, amazon, etc. All for around $1 a foot and have never had a single issue.. all were crisp and clear. If you are running it along side other wires or inside a wall just get a heavier sheath. Don't EVER pay for the "Monster Cable" premium.
