Leaving Verizon for Sprint

Thread Starter
I'm fed up with Verizon finding every way possible to nickel and dime their customers. I've been with them since 2005 and I'm done and refuse to upgrade to their new share crap plan and paying 500 bucks for a phone to keep my unlimited.

Anywho I was wondering:

1) Is it possible that Sprint would cover an early cancellation fee from Verizon? I've had friends that their current one paid the cancellation fee, I can't remember who they left from though

2) From the looks of it, it's between the Galaxy SIII and the Motorola Photon. What would you recommend and why.

DONT GO TO SPRINT. Go with AT&T or T Mobile. Sprint may be cheap, but you really end up getting extremely cheap speeds and service.

The service is terrible and the speeds are SLOW!!! I have Sprint right now and I can't wait till my contract ends in April.

If you don't mind having under, yes under 1mbps everywhere you go, get Sprint. I have NEVER had fast 3g or 4g speeds at all. I live in Chicago.

I take it you want to afford your bill. Go with T-Mobile. They're as cheap as Sprint and have super fast 3G speeds, and they're getting 4G LTE in February 2013.

Please, do youself a favor and forget about Sprint. They SUCK.

-Sprint does have cancellation fees that are quite high

Im leaving Sprint for Verizon or ATT as soon as my contract on my 2nd line is up Im paying the Cancellation fee just to get away. I've been with sprint for 11 years and their customer service is AWESOME.. .Their tech and speeds are TERRIBLE. Ive never gotten 3g speeds worth a crap and I pay 10 dollars a month for 4G I cant even use (and yes you have to pay it if your device has 4G capability) They offered a total of 1 yes 1 windows phone and they never supported it and they are not even offering a windows 8 phone. Stay the heck away from sprint!

I would recommend the Galaxy S3. No comment on Sprint though.

Yeah, I forgot to say Sprint customer service is great but the 3g and 4g is too slow to be useful..I see you live in Rockford. There is no 4g w/Sprint until NEXT YEAR.

Stay awayyyy

I have Sprint now and I just finished a 2 year contract and am looking into going with T Mobile. Dropped calls and hardly ever getting a 4 G signal have taken it's toll on me. At this point I feel like Boost Mobile or Metro PCS would be a better alternative.

I'm actually in Madison now.

Argh...this is really annoying cause I'm fed up with everyone getting rid of unlimited data.

What is the exact requirements to keep Verizon's unlimited data now days. Last I knew I had to buy one of the new 4G phones or something at full price? Does it have to be through Verizon?

I have been with Sprint for 11 years now. Never had any issue with customer service. I refuse to sign a contract with any company, maybe that is why they are so nice to me. Hint Hint thumb.gif

I recently saw an article about pre-paid plans vs contract plans. If you buy the phone out right and use a pre-paid plan you can save over $1000 over two years. According to the article. The problem is if you travel outside the service area.

There are several articles talking about the amount of money you will save in the long run.

I've had sprint since 1999 I think. I have never had a problem with their customer service and I have had a dropped call only twice. The data speeds, as have been said, are TERRIBLE. I have the only windows phone 7 device also which I love, but I cant even stream music over the 3g. I am probably going to switch to T-Mobile when the WP8 devices come out. I just cant justify the cost of ATT or Verizon.

Do you honestly NEED unlimited? I would take a look at your bill and how much data you're really using. Don't look at data calculators. The data calculators are market scams to get people to buy more data. I like Verizon/AT&T's share plan. Unlimited Talk/Text + 2GB/4Gb/6GB. I'm planning to get 2GB.

I use my phone everyday and I stream videos, go on internet nearly 24/7, do Skype calls to my girlfriend nearly everyday. I barely go over 2GB. Usually, it's 1.5GB of usage. I would honestly stick with verizon and just get the unlimited talk/text +2GB data. It's 100 bucks per month, which is expensive, but it's the greatest coverage in the nation. Sprint coverage is awful compared to Verizon. You're HARDCORE downgrading.

Edit: The reason companies got rid of unlimited data is because people didn't need it. 2GB or 4GB is PLENTY for intensive use everyday.
